Two National Guard soldiers shot dead in horrific attack on streets of DC as White House is urgently locked down

Two National Guard soldiers have been killed near the White House, sparking a security lockdown at the president’s residence.

The suspected shooter is in custody after multiple West Virginia National Guard troops shot down the street from the White House in the center of DC.

‘It is with great sorrow that we can confirm both members of the West Virginia National Guard who were shot earlier today in Washington, DC have passed away from their injuries,’ said West Virginian Gov. Patrick Morrisey.

‘These brave West Virginians lost their lives in the service of their country. We are in ongoing contact with federal officials as the investigation continues. Our entire state grieves with their families, their loved ones, and the Guard community. West Virginia will never forget their service or their sacrifice, and we will demand full accountability for this horrific act.’

An image has emerged online showing a national guard troop laying injured on the pavement as blood pours from his head while Secret Service agents give him medical attention.

Two National Guard members are in critical condition after being gunned down while on duty near the White House.

An unidentified trooper in uniform was seen on a stretcher inside an ambulance receiving medical attention at the scene of shooting.

An FBI source said that agents are on their way and will be on scene as soon as possible. Kash Patel was spotted arriving to the scene of the shooting in a motorcade with a fleet of security.

Armed National Guard troops have been deployed to the nation’s capital since early August as part of Donald Trump’s crime crackdown.

‘The White House is aware and actively monitoring this tragic situation. The President has been briefed,’ White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the Daily Mail.

Roughly 2,000 National Guard troops from DC and at least eight states have been deployed.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem asked for prayers for the two guardsmen and said her department was working with local law enforcement.

Secret Service officers and ambulances were seen responding to the scene.

The Daily Mail has reached out to the Secret Service for comment.

The president was not at the White House at the time of the shooting because he departed yesterday to Mar-a-Lago for the Thanksgiving holiday.

‘National Guard shot near the White House at a little before 2:15. I was in an Uber to work, with my cameraman, and heard multiple shots fired as we passed Farragut West,’ journalist Mari Otsu wrote on X.

‘A member of the National Guard fell while others rushed onto the scene. Area still on lockdown and Secret Service being deployed.’

Other pictures have emerged showing National Guard troops securing a perimeter in downtown DC where two fellow soldiers were shot.

The identity of the suspect arrested over the shooting has not been released to the public.

Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer issued a statement praying for the National Guard soldiers.

‘My heart breaks for the victims of this horrific shooting in Washington DC near the White House. I am closely monitoring the situation and am praying for the wounded National Guardsmen and their families. I thank all the first responders for their quick action to capture the suspect.

The Federal Aviation Administration briefly paused arriving commercial airplanes into Reagan Washington International Airport following the shooting.

The decision was made because of ‘the locations of aircraft involved in responding to today’s shooting incident. Normal operations have resumed.’

This is a developing story…
