But before then there is a huge amount of drama to come with Christmas feeling particularly bleak for some in the village.

And now it’s been revealed that villains Celia and Ray are planning their exit from the community, leaving behind a trail of devastation.

Viewers know the pair have been running a drugs operation, grooming gang and a modern slavery racket as part of their criminal empire.

But now with parts of their misdeeds exposed to Moira Dingle, Celia realised it’s time they move their operation elsewhere.

SOAP TIME

Emmerdale Christmas schedule: What time time is soap on over the festive period?

Having secured another farm in Wrexham, Celia ordered Ray to begin shutting down their illegal business.

She has ensured that Moira will take the fall for anything concerning the modern slavery as well as burying a body on her land wrapped in a blanket full of her DNA.

It will mean an exit for stars Jaye Griffiths and Joe Absolom after six months.

Speaking to The Sun and other media, Jaye recently said: “I knew it was finite, which I am very sad about, because I would like to stay forever, but it’s such a strong arc.”

She added: “It’s heaven, one of the nicest places I’ve ever worked, and I’ve done a little bit of work before!

“It is gentle and kind and professional and funny, and people care that it’s good.

“People care that we tell the story properly. It’s a joy to come to work. I’m gushing now, aren’t I?”

And up until now the reaction from fans has been overwhelmingly positive, she added: “Everybody, they come up to me in the street and tell me much they love Celia and you think, ‘yeah, that’s not going to last’.

“That’s so not going to last and I want to remind people that it’s just pretend and I am really nice and I’m not a sociopath.

“It’s so not gonna last, I’m gonna get hate mail!”
