Turkish trans drag queen is among ‘global talent’ being handed special British visas

A Turkish transgender drag queen has been welcomed into Britain with a ‘global talent’ visa.

The special visa scheme is meant for those with exceptional talents in music, theatre and dance and those applying are expected to prove their skills.

Applicants must be endorsed by the Arts Council before visas are signed off by the Home Office

Those who are successful are able to bring their family into the UK as dependents and stay for up to five years at a time.

Kübra Uzun has received the coveted visa and is a transgender drag artist and ‘LGBTQIA+ rights activist’ from Istanbul, who goes by the stage name of Q-BRA.

Uzun’s portfolio of work includes a song called Koli Kanonu, translated as ‘F*** buddy Canon’, about going out to find a sexual partner.

The drag queen has released on YouTube a re-written version of Carmen aria by Georges Bizet, with the lyrics in ‘Turkish queer slang’.

Also in receipt of the Global Talent visa, is another transgender drag artist, known as Akis Ka.

Other examples of people who have been let into Britain under the visa scheme are Nigerian rappers, poets and singers in African evangelical churches.

Upon entering the UK, many of these successful applicants then encourage and help others obtain a Global Talent visa.

Tobi Adegbite is a Nigerian rapper now living and working under the stage name Rhookcastle, who has brought his music ‘from Lagos to Birmingham’.

He is also the owner of a company called Exceptional Pathways, which offers help to artists seeking a talent visa, offering the service of ‘Global Talent visa documentation and submission’.

She also posts YouTube videos offering tutorials on seeking funded scholarships in the UK and gaining visas.

It comes as hundreds of Nigerian migrants are cheating the system by using a visa scheme meant for authors and other literary creatives.

They have made the most applications for the scheme, which also covers poets, oral storytellers and creators of graphic novels and comics, The Telegraph revealed.

The shadow home secretary, Chris Philp told the paper an urgent review is needed over the visa route.

He said: ‘The idea that drag artists represent global talent is frankly laughable.

‘These visas should be for research scientists, IT professionals, medics, people working at the cutting edge of finance or others who will add value to the economy.

‘Allowing these visas to be used for drag queens is patently ridiculous and the government should urgently get a grip.’
