Turkish hotel shames British mother who smashed up hotel room after drunkenly celebrating her boyfriend’s new veneers by publishing ‘full list and pictures of damage she caused’

A British mother who smashed up her room at a Turkish resort causing £15,000 worth of damage has been shamed by the hotel.

The Lexia Hotel claimed Georgia Harrison, 32, smashed her shower screen, ripped the TV off the wall and broke the window of her room while drunk after celebrating her boyfriend’s new veneers.

When they woke up, the couple, from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, tried to catch a taxi to the airport but the car was chased by hotel staff and surrounded before they were arrested by the police.

The cleaner and partner Arron Tighe, 32, were held in a cell for days, questioned without a lawyer, and then hauled before a judge who told her she could not leave the country until she paid the £15,000 in damages.

The Lexia Hotel have now released pictures of the ‘unusable’ room, where the double bed had been ripped and food splattered on the walls.

The bed linens and towels were also left unusable and the minibar was smashed.

Wall mounts and lights were ‘removed and rendered unusable’ and the whole room had to be repainted, the hotel said.

‘The furniture and items used in our rooms are specially designed, and the repair process took approximately one month,’ the hotel added.

‘We would also like to state that our room could not be sold to customers for one month, and our facility suffered financial damage in this regard.’

The day before the hotel room was wrecked, the couple had downed cocktails and vodka and lemonades during a boozy night out to toast his new £2,000 full veneers.

Ms Harrison said she made ‘the worst mistake of my life’ that night by mixing booze with antipsychotic medication which caused her to black out and ‘throw things around’.

The British Embassy told the couple at the time they couldn’t help lift their travel ban and advised them to find a lawyer but nearly two months later they are still unable to leave Turkey.

Ms Harrison had previously only admitted to the broken shower screen but her legal team had since allegedly told her to ‘stay quiet’, Manchester Evening News reported.

Mum-of-one Georgia says she is heartbroken when daughter Poppy, 12, keeps calling to ask her when she is coming home and has launched a GoFundMe appeal to help pay the bill so she can fly home.

She estimates she has had to spend a further £7,000 on hotels, taxis and living expenses while detained in Turkey and is close to running out of money.

In desperation to get back to her daughter she has even tried to book another flight and catch a boat to Greece to escape but was stopped each time when her passport was checked.

She told MailOnline: ‘It’s heartbreaking, she doesn’t understand why I can’t come home. Sometimes I think I’m never going to get back to her.’

‘It’s driving me insane, I feel like I have got no way out of here.

‘I know I did wrong and I regret being so stupid to have damaged the hotel, but I need to get home to my daughter.

‘I just feel so weak and I’m getting nowhere, it’s killing me.

‘I understand I have done wrong but I’m not a bank robber or a drug smuggler – I made a stupid mistake, I don’t even remember doing it, but I have done all I can to fix it.’

‘The proforma invoices received from the company that built our hotel are also shared as an image in the attachment, and we have requested the balance in the proforma invoices from the customers.

‘As stated by our guests themselves, our guests left the hotel room unusable.’
