Trump’s defence sec Pete Hegseth sacks US Army chief of staff ‘effective immediately’ in the middle of Iran war

DONALD Trump’s Defence Secretary has fired the US Army’s top general in a shock move as America ramps up pressure on Iran.

General Randy George – the highest-ranking officer in the Army – has been forced to step down and retire immediately after Pete Hegseth’s orders.

The Pentagon confirmed the bombshell exit, saying: “Randy George will be retiring from his position as chief of staff of the army effective immediately.”
