How frightening and terrible could the ferocious, authoritarian ‘threat to democracy’ dictator be if the few celebrity self-exiles who actually decamped for their own safety are now un-exiling themselves and returning to the United States?
I don’t see how, as a righteous progressive, once horrified at the thought of the Bad Orange Man again with his hands on the reins of world power, you were so terrified into fleeing the country for someplace better. Someplace safe.
How could you forswear the country of your birth over the legitimate winner of an election that simply didn’t go your way? How could you declare that you could no longer live in a place ruled by someone such as he, because he, this Trump person, was ‘so scary’ that he made your friends cry when he won?
…The 67-year-old said she and De Rossi had initially planned to spend three or four months a year in the UK and bought what they thought would be “a part-time house”.
“We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in’,” she said. “And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here’.“
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, were in England during that traumatic election a little over a year ago. The news of Trump’s improbable victory was all DeGeneres needed to make a part-time home into a full-time move away from the hell she knew was coming to the US on the heels of the Trump victory.
Life in the United Kingdom, DeGeneres said later, was ‘just better.’
US TV star Ellen DeGeneres has made her first public appearance since moving to the UK, saying she decided to settle in England the day after Donald Trump was re-elected US president.
The comedian and host told a crowd in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, that life “is just better” in the UK.
…On Sunday at the Everyman theatre in nearby Cheltenham, she was in conversation with broadcaster Richard Bacon, who asked whether reports that she moved because of Donald Trump were correct. “Yes,” she replied.
DeGeneres and de Rossi’s bold stand ‘shocked’ even one of their most rabid fellow anti-Trump ex-pats, who is admittedly not exactly on good terms with either of them.
…[Rosie] O’Donnell admitted she was taken aback that DeGeneres followed through with her move to England upon Trump’s second term.
“I’ve never really known Ellen to say anything political in her life, so I was surprised to read that she left because of President Trump,” she continued. “Like, that shocked me, actually.”
As President Trump is only in about the tenth month of his first year in office, he will be looming over the national landscape for a while.
This is driving a severe TDS sufferer like the delightful Rosie O’Donnell even more insane, if that’s possible. The snarling, grey-haired termagent is now using her autistic daughter in her near-daily attacks on Trump, and it’s being breathlessly reported as Trump’s ‘impact’ on her family.
It’s kind of amusing because she lives in Ireland. If it wasn’t for the unhinged and angry little TDS-obsessed world in O’Donnell’s head, there’d be no impact at all.
Her autistic daughter is also mad at Trump for forcing her mother to move to Ireland.
See how this works?
Former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell has shed new light on how Donald Trump‘s presidency impacted her family.
The comedian has been living outside of the U.S. in the wake of Trump winning a second term, and the decision has left her autistic child frustrated, as they believe it’s all Trump’s fault.
Rosie O’Donnell is one of the many celebrities who kept true to their word about leaving the country if Trump won.
…“My daughter is now saying, ‘Damn him. Damn Trump’ and smashing her hand on the table,” O’Donnell revealed to her host, per the Daily Mail.
“And she said, ‘He made us move in order for our own safety. And it’s now, he’s destroying the country,” the actress added.
They’re not in Ireland because O’Donnell’s a loon, but because the Bad Orange Man made them move, just as if he’d packed the boxes himself.
Which is what I’m sure she’s told an impressionable, challenged 12-year-old.
WE’RE COMING BACK WHEN IT’S SAFE
…”When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back,” she revealed in a TikTok post in March.
Well, hopefully that’s at least a three-year respite for the rest of us.
Who these ‘many other’ ex-pat celebrities are, I’m now curious because they don’t name them, and I can’t think of enough to qualify for ‘many’ off the top of my head. Most talked a good game about leaving the country and are still here bitching about it.
Not so DeGeneres and de Rossi.
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have fled in exile to the U.K.
They intend to stay there permanently following Donald Trump’s election as president.

By George, as anti-Trump refugees go, the UK was a beautiful, safe sanctuary from which to look back and feel smugly superior until their first winter in the Cotswolds.
Faced with a choice of the demon democracy destroying dictator or another freezing season of bitter, bone-chilling English winter?
Oh hell, yeah – they’re coming home. England’s for the penguins.
When former talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi moved to England a year ago they put the blame firmly on Donald Trump.
The American TV star said she decided to settle in the Cotswolds the day after Mr Trump was re-elected President because life ‘is just better’ in the UK.
But now The Mail on Sunday can reveal that Ms DeGeneres has told friends she and Ms de Rossi are planning to spend more time in sunny California because they ‘miss their friends’ and dread the thought of another British winter.
A source said: ‘Ellen was adamant that she and Portia were going to stay in the UK while Trump was in the White House, but evidently she’s changed her mind somewhat.
‘She’s been telling friends they are coming home soon because they miss them and can’t take the winters over there, and Portia wants to act again. They will be here for the holidays and longer by the sound of it.’ Ms de Rossi, 52, is best known for starring in the TV shows Ally McBeal and Arrested Development.
There’s no place warmer and more inviting than SoCal, even with the threat of the dreaded Trump?

I guess not. So much for progressive principles.
Is there anything Trump can’t do?
I am also tickled I’m not the only one who noticed the pathetic crawl down after her dramatic stage left exit.
‘Queen of Mean’ Ellen Degeneres’ Embarrassing U-turn: Shamed TV Host Plotting L.A. Return One Year After Moving to U.K. After Trump’s 2024 Election Victory
Ellen DeGeneres is already plotting a return to the U.S., just over a year since she relocated to the U.K. in protest of Donald Trump’s election victory.
RadarOnline.com can reveal the canceled chat show host is considering making the shock U-turn because she misses her pals in L.A. and she’s fed up of the cold winters in the English countryside.
Cold and damp in England. Whoda thunk it?
Maybe they can get a place next to the Dumb Prince and his Stupid Wife.
That would be a neighborhood of intellectual powerhouses to avoid, yes. But at least they’re all in the right state.
