DONALD Trump has launched a blistering attack saying he’s “very disappointed” in Sir Keir Starmer from blocking him using UK military bases for iran strikes.

THE US President said the PM’s refusal to allow America to use the Chagos Islands to launch attacks was unlike anything that has “happened between our countries before”.

The blistering intervention highlights the increasingly tense relationship between the Trump administration and Downing Street.

Legal advice had prevented the US permission to let military jets from using Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean and RAF Fairford.

Trump said that it “took far too long” for Starmer to make his mind up, in an exclusive interview with The Telegraph.

The US leader said: “That’s probably never happened between our countries before. It sounds like he was worried about the legality.”

Recent weeks have been dogged by the US’s changing position over the controversial Chagos deal.

The proposed agreement with Mauritius would see them hold sovereignty of the territory but the UK would have them back in a 99-year lease.

He said: “All of a sudden (Mauritius)was claiming ownership. He should have fought it out and owned it or make him take it, if you want to know the truth. But no, we were very disappointed in Keir.”
