AS you know, I am not a huge fan of the United Nations, in much the same way that I am not a fan of the World Economic Forum, the European Union, or the Ebola Virus.
In fact, by sheer number of fatalities caused directly or indirectly, the United Nations is far worse than the Ebola Virus.
So when I see Donald Trump walk into the United Nations to fire both barrels of his rhetorical shotgun into its guts, it gives me great pleasure. There may be targets slightly more deserving of his ire, but I am having a hard time thinking of one right now.
One of my favorite Trump/UN moments came from his first term. It may not have been of international significance, but it still brings a smile to my face.
Remember when Trump almost made Greta Thunberg cry as he walked past her at the UN? 😂 pic.twitter.com/bmt5mRjM89

There was just something perfect about that moment. The United Nations brings a spoiled brat into its halls partly as a rebuke to President Trump, and he rightly ignores her to her fury–a fury that subsequently was released at the United Nations itself.
As Joe Biden would say, “That’s storybook, man!”
This is insane…
As Trump arrived to the UN, the escalator stopped working the moment he stepped on it.
Then the teleprompter stopped working the moment he got up to the podium to speak. pic.twitter.com/XBTgfr6zJ8

Well, Trump went to the United Nations again today to excoriate them once again, and while not quite as glorious a visual moment, it still shines bright in my mind’s eye.
🔥 One of the most LEGENDARY lines from President Trump’s speech at the UN
“I ended SEVEN wars … I never even received a phone call from the UN offering to help…”
“These are the two things I got from the United Nations: a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter. Thank you… pic.twitter.com/OWXTObLdDe

Yep. Sounds about right. The United Nations is too busy aiding Hamas to stay alive and ignoring the Israeli hostages who are dying of starvation.
President Trump at the UN just berated those who recognised Palestine and called it a “reward for these horrible atrocities”. He said the world should have been united in one message:
“Release the hostages.”
Absolutely correct. pic.twitter.com/oi0x7AVqXA

The entire speech is worth a listen, but I will share some clips to provide you with some Cliff’s notes.

BREAKING – At the United Nations, President Trump:
– Called for protections for Christians
– Eviscerated the UN for funding mass migration into the US and western countries
– Said Europe must stop adopting Sharia Law
– Harshly criticized globalism
– Slammed the UN for its climate alarmism
– Scorched countries for funding Russia’s war
– Promoted fossil fuels
– Urged countries stop falling for the “Green Scam”
– Said the UN doesn’t back up its words with any meaningful action on issues that matter
– Preached American exceptionalism and said none of their countries come close
– Demanded an end to biological weapons
– Concluded by urging UN members to protect their national identities by clamping down on mass migration and serving their people
And of course, clowned the UN for its escalator breaking in the lobby and the teleprompter not working. 🤣
Worth watching the whole thing.
The United Nations, however, is not only ineffective in its primary mission of maintaining peace — it is also actively harmful in alleviating human suffering. I am not referring to its promotion of sex trafficking with its peacekeeping forces, or its spreading of cholera in Haiti, but rather to its war against energy and economic development.
President Trump rips the green energy scam: “It used to be called global cooling. Then they said global warming. So now they just call it climate change. It’s the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world. All of these predictions made by the UN and many others were WRONG.” pic.twitter.com/eUyLaXiUtm

He absolutely eviscerated the United Nations (and European countries) on the support for mass migration from the so-called “Global South” to Western countries.
President Trump just called out the UN for funding the invasion of America’s southern border:
“In 2024, the UN budgeted $372M in cash assistance to support migrants journeying into the United States… The UN also provided food, shelter, transportation and debit cards to illegal… pic.twitter.com/HVo1GCTOvB

“In 2024, the UN budgeted $372M in cash assistance to support migrants journeying into the United States… The UN also provided food, shelter, transportation and debit cards to illegal aliens… The UN is supposed to stop invasions, not create them and not finance them… In the United States we reject the idea that mass numbers of people from foreign lands can be permitted to travel halfway around the world, trample our borders, violate our sovereignty, cause unmitigated crime and deplete our social safety nets. We have reasserted that America belongs to the American people.”
Ironically, most people in America have no idea that both the United Nations and USAID were the primary funders of the border crisis.
Wow.
Trump calls out Europe at the UN for allowing unrestricted mass immigration:
“Europe is in serious trouble. You are destroying your countries! Illegal aliens are pouring into Europe. It’s not sustainable.”pic.twitter.com/WBmo1gMQmg

There is plenty more, but you get the idea. Trump is absolutely fearless, and it is a breath of fresh air. Diplomatic doublespeak is fine when things are going well enough and we are discussing middling issues such as food standards and minor trade disputes, but when it comes to war and peace, the migration crisis, and the assault on economic and political freedom we are facing, truth is the weapon we need to use, not niceties.
Too much red in the green room. https://t.co/x9gOpDsALa

As for our funding of the UN, I am of two minds. While defunding it has its attractions and a policy to which I would be sympathetic, I imagine there are a few reasons even Trump is not doing that. The first, I suspect, is that it is a great place to deploy spies to keep track of our enemies and friends, and it serves as a place where we can meet behind closed doors with countries we do not recognize. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
A UN at The Hague would be just as destructive, or more so, and the UN will not disappear without the US. So perhaps keeping it alive and in New York serves a purpose.
But really, could it be much worse? I can’t say, and it irks me that we fund it. Watching smug UN diplomats sneer at us and trying to undermine our country is disgusting.
