A MOTHER-IN-LAW has come under fierce fire after sharing the outfit she was planning on wearing to her son’s wedding.
Bride-to-be Deanna took to TikTok to share the unpleasant incident after her future mother-in-law went dress-shopping for the big day.
As Deanna was busy that day, the groom took his mother shopping – and was stunned when his mum popped outside wearing a white lace gown.
Gobsmacked, the hubby-to-be told his mum she wouldn’t be wearing the lavish dress to their wedding, as it was clearly ”white”.
However, the mum wasn’t having any of this and insisted the frock was, in fact, ”pink” – and that she had already ordered the dress and put a deposit down on it.
Deanna’s future husband didn’t tell her about the situation until later – and there were a few things that didn’t sit well with her.
According to the bride-to-be, she had never told the woman what her wedding gown looked like – and the two may have ended up wearing the exact same dress, she said in the video.
”It is interesting behaviour, for sure.
”It is not a wedding guest dress or a dress that is just white – it is a wedding gown,” Deanna slammed her mother-in-law.
A few days later, the woman allegedly returned to the shop to use up the credit from the cancelled order and found a navy dress, which was better suited for her mother-of-the-groom role.
”We’re so confused at the switch-up. It’s as if she went into the store one day and said, ‘Hey, I’m a bride today’.
”And then went into the store the next day and said, ‘I’m the mother-of-the-groom today’.
”It’s like she was shopping for two different weddings. To me, that shows she knew what was for what,” said Deanna whose mum is wearing a black gown for the special day.
Just to avoid any confrontation and nasty surprises on the actual wedding, Deanna added that she had even contacted the store in question to make sure the white lace gown had been cancelled – and that the mother-in-law had indeed ordered a new navy frock.
Deanna shared the white gown the woman was planning on wearing that day on TikTok in a video that’s now gone viral.
Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette
If you’re struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here’s a few rules on what not to wear so you don’t get in trouble.
- Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom.
- Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided.
- Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream – even if it’s not.
- Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
- Wearing white is a massive no-no if you’re not the bride.
”You think you can hurt me? This is the dress my fiance’s mother bought for our wedding.
”And told my fiance, ‘it’s a surprise’.”
Social media users slam the mother-in-law
Posted just one day ago under the username @deannanotdeanna, the video has already gone viral, winning Deanna more than 4million views and over 16k comments.
One baffled social media user asked: ”She’s cosplaying marrying her son? I’m confused.”
Another chimed in, slamming the woman: ”I bet in her mind it’s ‘her’ wedding.”
”Yall gotta start cursing people out immediately because there’s no way,” someone else refused to believe what they were seeing.
”I need to know what bridal shop would literally sell this to a mother of the bride,” a viewer chimed in.
