Travelodge to open new seaside town hotel next month and it’s right by one of the UK’s most popular beaches

A SEASIDE town in the UK is getting a new Travelodge hotel this summer.

Travelodge Skegness is the hotel chain’s first for the seaside town.

The six-story hotel will have 80 rooms, and be just a few steps from the seafront.

Each of the rooms will be the New Design versions, which have new pillows and duvets as well as blackout blinds.

The SuperRooms will also have a new addition, with a drinks fridge filled with complimentary still and sparkling water.

Rooms can now be booked with prices from £79.99.

Also on the site will be a drive-thru Starbucks, developer The Burney Group confirmed.

Daren Burney, the group’s managing director, said he hoped it would help improve the town.

He explained: “I’m hoping this will be the catalyst for regeneration in that part of the seafront.

“That’s the vision and I hope we can drive forward lots of local, year-round jobs.”

Travelodge has more than 600 hotels across the UK with plans to open even more.

Yet Skegness is often named one of the UK’s worst seaside towns and even has a nickname of Skeg Vegas.

However, one mum recently visited and raved about the town.

She told Sun Travel: “Last August, we also had a day trip to Skegness on the Lincolnshire coast — which included a dip in the sea, some pub grub and a few rides at the fair.

“What more can you want from a visit to the seaside?

“My boys, aged three, eight and ten, love all the fun of the fair, the noise of coins clattering at the arcades and music booming out as you walk past the pubs.

“One of our favourite moments was chancing upon an old coastal defence building known as a Martello tower.

“It had been converted into an air museum, and we were given a mini tour by two volunteers who were getting it ready for the summer season.”
