A TRANS woman dressed like a Blues Brother has been arrested for murder following a tense seven-hour standoff with police.
Eleanor Beaulieu, 39, allegedly killed an elderly millionaire developer in his home and stayed with the corpse after the crime.
Cops conducted a welfare check on Demetrius Doukoullos, 92, at his Hermosa Beach home after an acquaintance reported that she hadn’t seen the millionaire for over a week.
When police arrived around 12.30pm on Saturday, neighbours warned of a foul odour coming from Doukoullos’ oceanfront home, The New York Post reported.
They also reportedly told cops that a suspicious person had been spotted in the residence lounging on the front porch.
Hermosa Beach Police Sgt Keagan Dadigan explained how the routine welfare check had escalated to a suspected homicide.
“With the assistance of the landlord or the realtor, they granted us access to go inside and they located somebody that was inside that did not match the description of the resident,” police said.
As officers entered the home, they reportedly saw someone run into the bedroom and locked the door.
“That person made some type of statement that she was armed and barricaded herself inside of the residence,” police explained.
A SWAT team was called and negotiations with Beaulieu began.
The tense standoff on the usually quiet street lasted seven-hours into the evening.
Eventually, police said Beaulieu surrendered around 7.45pm.
The alleged killer was seen walking out of the home wearing a peculiar outfit that included a fedora, suit, sunglasses and black tie.
The outfit resembled the famous characters from The Blues Brothers.
Police were then able to safely enter the unit and found Doukoullos’s decomposing body, which the medical examiner said had signs of trauma.
Beaulieu was charged with homicide and booked into the Los Angeles County Men’s Central Jail under the legal name of Robert Phillip Simmons.
Bail was set at $2 million.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau is taking on the investigation.
The relationship between Beaulieu and Doukoullos is unknown.
It’s understood Doukoullos was living alone after his wife died in 2012.
