Tragedy as woman in her 40s dies in major supermarket with store shut and high street closed off

A WOMAN has died in a major supermarket store, leading to the temporary closure of the adjacent high street.

Emergency crews had rushed to the Waitrose store in Esher, Surrey, at around 6pm on Wednesday after receiving calls of a “concern for safety” at the supermarket.

Both the high street in the town and the Waitrose store itself were closed as medics tried to save the life of the woman, aged in her 40s.

Tragically, despite their best efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed, Surrey Police said.
