A MAN in his 50s was tragically found dead on a popular UK beach in the middle of the night.
Dorset Police were called to Bournemouth beach shortly after midnight on Saturday.
Officers found a man in need of medical attention but despite their best efforts he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and his family have been notified.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Dorset Police received a report at 12.06am on Saturday December 20 from the ambulance service requesting assisting in relation to a man in need of medical attention on Bournemouth Beach in the area of Pier Approach.
“Very sadly, it was confirmed that the man – aged in his 50s – was deceased.
“Enquiries into the circumstances of the death were carried out and his family has been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s loved ones at this difficult time.”
