A 17-year-old girl has tragically died following a horror crash, while a 19-year-old driver is fighting for his life in hospital.
Cops rushed to the scene at the northbound carriageway, at Seaton near Sunderland at around 11pm on November 24.
A yellow Vauxhall Corsa left the carriageway and was involved in a collision before catching fire, Northumbria Police said.
The 17-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 19-year-old male driver was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Officers are appealing for those who witnessed the incident to come forward.
