MOBLAND has been rocked by allegations of tension between Tom Hardy and Helen Mirren after he reportedly turned up late to filming.
Production sources claim Oscar-winning Helen has become irritated by Hardy’s behaviour – including alleged lateness and being seen playing games on his phone.
One insider claimed Hardy can “get cross” and “swaggers around like he’s the king,” with the source adding to The Mail on Sunday: “It feels like Tom is winding her up.”
The rift has grown so deep that the pair are now struggling to work closely together.
Sources told that Dame Helen, 80, who plays formidable mob matriarch Maeve Harrigan, is “getting increasingly frustrated” with Hardy, 48, who returns as gangster fixer Harry Da Souza.
The pair reunited just over a month ago as cameras rolled again on Guy Ritchie’s widely praised crime saga.
One source said: “She is getting increasingly frustrated with Tom and his attitude.
“He can be late to filming too and that is annoying for Dame Helen, who is extremely professional and disciplined.
“His tone is something Dame Helen doesn’t like, along with his lateness.
“She expects better. She holds people to a high standard. She’s 80. She’s been there and seen it all.
“The behind-the-scenes crew watch it all and believe that she no longer looks as happy working on scenes with him. It has all become quite personal between them.”
They added: “He is very, very arrogant.
“It’s a fantastic show and everyone loves working on it. It’s such a shame there is this undertone.’”
Pierce Brosnan appears as Dame Helen’s on-screen husband Conrad and Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt as Jan Da Souza, wife to Hardy’s character.
The Sun has contacted their reps for comment.
It’s not Tom’s first clash with an A-list co-star.
Charlize Theron is said to have branded him a “f****** c***” after he left her waiting on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road for hours.
Cast and crew members said things got so bad between the pair that Charlize requested the company of a female producer with her at all times for “protection” against the actor.
Charlize played Imperator Furiosa in the 2015 movie, while Tom starred as Max Rockatansky.
Tom grew up in posh south-west London in East Sheen.
He was the only child of Cambridge-educated writer Edward “Chips” Hardy and mum Anne, an artist.
He previously said: “I always had a sense of shame about being privileged. It’s taken me a long time to realise it’s OK to be from Sheen, it’s OK to be a public schoolboy. It’s not where you’re from, it’s where you’re at.
“I grew up around people carriers and cardigans and the deer in Richmond Park, but behind those Laura Ashley curtains there are a lot of demons.
“East Sheen is a middle-class area but there’s trouble if you want it.”
Helen was brought up in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, and attended Catholic girls school St Bernard’s High School for Girls.
She said: “I was raised in Leigh-on-Sea and am proud of my Essex roots.”
