A toddler has been found wandering the streets alone while wearing just a nappy and holding a small ball.
The young boy, believed to be around two or three-years-old, was found by a member of the public in Newport just before 7am on Thursday.
They later alerted the police and officers attended the scene on Temple Street.
Officers confirmed the toddler is safely in their care and are looking to speak with his parents to establish what happened.
Reports on social media claimed the toddler was found wearing only nappies and holding a small ball, South Wales Argus reports.
It was also claimed he is non-verbal, the news outlet added.
A Gwent Police spokesperson said: ‘We received a report of a young boy being found by a member of the public in Newport at around 6.55am on Thursday 20 March.
‘The child is currently safe with our officers while they speak with his parents to establish the circumstances.’
