SIGN UP: You’ll often get a one-time discount on shopping when you sign up to a brand’s newsletter, so look for this before hitting the purchase button online.
For example, you’ll get 10 per cent off your first shop with both River Island and Flying Tiger.
It’s worth having a couple of email addresses you can use to receive marketing from brands.
Stay signed up and you’re likely to receive alerts about any flash sales or other discounts.
If you’re not in a rush to buy, it can be worth holding off for events such as Black Friday.

PRE-LOVED: You’ll find your favourite brands are a snip on second-hand selling sites such as Vinted.
You can also filter items by “new with labels”.
Many brands sell through eBay offering past-season items and returns at discounts, including All Saints, M&S and Mountain Warehouse.
