COPS have arrested three people after schools were plunged into lockdown during a manhunt for a gunman yesterday.
A manhunt was launched after a shooting in Bristol at 1.47pm that left a man with a “potentially life-changing” injury.
A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains.
Cops said a man in his twenties was arrested just after 2.30am on suspicion of attempted murder.
Another man and a woman in their twenties were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Police were called after reports of a gun being fired at a car in Speedwell Road, about three miles from the Bristol city centre.
Firearms officers attended to support emergency services where a man in his twenties was taken to hospital with a serious injury.
Chester Park Infant School, in Lodge Causeway, Two Mile Hill Primary School and Bristol Brunel Academy were all closed.
The three schools were placed into lockdown as students were still in attendance despite most of the country having already broken up for the Easter holidays.
Schools under Bristol City Council count term four as February 23 to April 2, meaning that they do not begin their break for the holiday until today.
Cops say the shooter fled the scene on an electric bike.
Officers have described him as white, in his late-teens or early 20s, of slim build, and about 1.8m (6ft) tall.
He was wearing a grey hoodie, black trousers, and a balaclava.
A police cordon was put in place between Speedwell Road and Two Mile Hill.
Chief Inspector James Clements described the incident as “incredibly concerning”.
He said: “I know this incident will be incredibly concerning, however we are deploying significant resources, including a National Police Air Service helicopter and our specially-trained firearms officers, as we work to locate the person responsible.
“The victim has been taken to hospital where he is being treated for an injury that is potentially life-changing, but not believed to be life-threatening.
“His family has been informed and will be kept updated as our investigation progresses.
“There is likely to be a significant police presence in the area over the coming days while our investigation continues.
“Neighbourhood officers will also be carrying out extra patrols and anyone with any concerns can speak with them about these.”
