It’s a normal human reaction to get angry when somebody treats you like an idiot.
At least it is if you are not an idiot. I can’t speak for how idiots feel about it, and unfortunately, they are too stupid to articulate their own thoughts and feelings in a way that anybody with an IQ over 90 can understand.
However, this rule of human behavior doesn’t seem to apply under certain conditions. Normally intelligent people who can smell bovine excrement from a mile away in many circumstances seem to get lobotomies when certain subjects come up. Perhaps Scott Adams is right, and they have been hypnotized, making them incapable of using their rational faculties.
In matters of politics and religion, and recently any discussion of public health measures and vaccines, many normally intelligent people become trained seals clapping whenever their masters tell them to.
I could give countless examples, and not only of liberals exhibiting this behavior (think people who take Candace Owens seriously these days), but this one popped up in my feed, so I will use it as an example.

Chris Murphy is a Democratic Senator from Connecticut, one of the wealthiest and most educated states in the nation. Connecticut routinely ranks in the top five for income and educational attainment, yet it keeps electing representatives whose main talent seems to be gaslighting its citizens and telling them what they want to hear rather than anything resembling the truth.
Look at that chart Murphy is sharing, wanting his readers to become outraged at Donald Trump. What do you see?
Well, any normal person would see that when the Biden Inflation Reduction Act passed, electricity prices spiked and kept going up.

What Chris Murphy sees is “Trump!” Trump did this!
Of course, he has added the now-common Democrat claim that high inflation under Biden was because of “natural” economic conditions, whatever that means. The Fed flooding the zone with trillions of dollars is “natural?” But of course, any increases under Trump are due to “unnatural” economic conditions caused by Trump.
Does anybody buy this? It’s not like that chart is difficult to understand. The spike happened under Biden, and it’s not hard to see. And it is a huge spike, too, and directly correlated with inflationary policies and the “Inflation Reduction Act,” which was basically the Green New Deal.
Apparently, Democrats DO buy it. And not because all of them are idiots. It must be because they are hypnotized.
Democrats eagerly watch news sources that gaslight them, and will sit down to read from magazines that change their approach with dizzying speed depending on the narrative they need to feed the eager masses, and it makes no impression.

Adam Schiff is, indisputably and quite obviously, a liar. He keeps on cashing checks that his account cannot pay, yet Democrats continue to believe him and support him. Ditto Eric Swalwell. And so many others.
What can explain this other than hypnosis? I know from direct experience that the average IQ level of Democrats is no lower than that of Republicans, and that as a group they have higher educational attainment on average. Yet they believe the most absurd things that anybody with an IQ around 100 would see through.
Who were the most oppressive COVID cultists? Not the ordinary Joe, who uses common sense to judge claims. Instead, it is people who are trained to believe in authority so much that even the most obvious facts are dismissed in favor of taking the word of an “expert.”
Is Chris Murphy so stupid that he can’t see the date at which energy prices jumped? I doubt it.
It’s easier to believe that he knows his audience is mesmerized.
