An eagle-eyed The Traitors viewer spotted a ‘clue’ potentially revealing a ‘big twist’ about one of the Faithful.

The hit BBC show’s fourth series is in full swing – with Claudia Winkleman once again presiding over the ultimate game of deception.

A secret mother-daughter duo has already been exposed to viewers – and online sleuths think there are more surprises to come.

Over on Reddit, laser-focused fans pointed out how contestant Ben’s surname has not been revealed online.

Although the show doesn’t typically share the cast’s surnames, armchair detectives believe this is no coincidence.

The retired navy officer, 66, became the second Faithful to be ‘murdered’ by the Traitors – and viewers think he may be related to a fellow player.

One person wrote: ‘I’m pretty convinced we’ve found the big twist.’

They elaborated: ‘But here’s something very curious – nowhere at all will you find what Ben’s last name is.

‘The show released all contestant’s full name except Ben. He’s just called “Ben”.

‘All the wikis etc also only feature him by first name even though they list everyone else by full name.

‘He’s done a few interviews in Hampshire with local papers like The Daily Echo – and highly unusual for a newspaper they also only refer to him as Ben, which no newspaper would accept unless it was an agreement to do so for reasons they felt made sense – such as him having the same surname as another contestant, or providing his surname making it too easy to research and find information that might reveal a connection.’

Another user commented: ‘Good catch.’

A third remarked: ‘They are making such a big deal of the family tree that I think there have to be more connections.’

A fourth offered an alternative theory, saying: ‘Isn’t Ben ex Forces? Could it be related to that?’

While a fifth chimed in: ‘I thought he looked like James around the eyes. And James is from Weymouth not far from Hampshire where it says Ben is from.

‘And as an ex-Navy he could have been based out of Portsmouth despite his Scottish accent.’

It comes as viewers and a former contestant suggested another two players could be hiding a secret father-son connection.

Child liaison officer Judy Wilson, 60, became the first player voted out at the roundtable in this year’s series – but had been a Faithful all along.

It’s an area she is well-versed in – having kept her connection to adopted daughter Roxy a secret from the other players.

Speaking to Metro, Judy specifically highlighted 59-year-old Maz and 22-year-old Faraaz.

She shared: ‘I think there are more secret connections.

‘There was a lot of speculation when I was in there about Faraaz and Maz – are they son and dad? We kept thinking that.’

Over on Reddit, one of the BBC show’s viewers had the same idea, penning: ‘Anyone else feel Maz is Faraaz’s dad?’

However, another person poured cold water on this theory, as they wrote: ‘Don’t know if this is a spoiler but I can tell you he’s not.’

When questioned about this, the Reddit user clarified: ‘I know [Faraaz] and have seen his dad.’

The Traitors continues Wednesday on BBC One and is available to stream on iPlayer.
