The noughties pieces in your wardrobe that sell for hundreds as Topshop makes return to the high street

THE LEGENDARY fashion giant Topshop has delighted fans with news of its return to the high street.

However, before you dash to check out the latest collection, make sure to go through your wardrobe – as it might be full of Topshop‘s old pieces worth a small fortune.

The iconic brand left a hole on London’s Oxford Street and the hearts of many trendy fans when it closed its doors in 2021.

But much to the pleasure of fashionistas, Topshop is back up and running online – and there’s even speak of shops coming soon in the UK.

If you’re looking to make some quick cash, it also might be wise to search through storage for old Topshop pieces – because they could be worth a pretty penny.

Despite most pieces originally retailing for under £100, online marketplace eBay has witnessed people flogging their pre-loved garments from the brand for much higher prices, with some clothes going more for than £200 plus.

One seller, @bless7478, managed to sell a floral dress, dubbed ‘Topshop Kate Moss Iconic Pansy Floral Print Tea Dress Glasto’, for an impressive £115.

While the price tag might raise some eyebrows, the eBay seller noted that the frock, also previously worn by fashion legend Alexa Chung, is made from 100 per cent cotton, which is a rare find these days.

Elsewhere, a different frilly dress is currently up for grabs for an impressive £172, despite showing signs of wear.

It comes as no surprise that most of the items up for larger amounts of money are related to Kate Moss, the English super model who became synonymous with Topshop after collaborating with the brand.

Back in 2014, Kate’s Topshop collection caused chaos on London’s Oxford Street, with hordes of fans lining outside the flagship store to purchase the festival-inspired collection.

The model’s appearance at the event made the release day an even bigger event for the eager fans.

After her brief appearance, Kate disappeared to go for a private dinner with friends and supporters.

Friends and family caught and early glimpse inside for a special VIP preview, with guests including Mary McCartney, sister of designer Stella McCartney, and Sienna Miller, Mail Online reported.

What makes the brand so unique?

THE return of Topshop to the high street has left fans in a frenzy.

Sun Savers Editor Lana Clements explains what makes the brand quite so special…

Topshop was so much more than a clothing brand for millennials. It is woven into the tapestry of our coming of age.

For me, the love affair started pre-teens coveting Freedom jewellery mood rings and yin yang symbols on black cord necklaces that were synonymous with the 90s.

But as I grew up, Topshop was with me every step of the way. From the signature everyday Jamie skinny jeans to almost all my Friday night outfits.

Until Topshop, high street fashion simply imitated trends led by top designers.

But the brand became the forefront of cutting-edge fashion, setting trends rather than following them.

This was underlined by Topshop Unique becoming part of the London Fashion week schedule in 2005, featuring the likes of Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn on the runway.

But nothing secured its status as a fashion leader more than its iconic collaboration with Kate Moss.

A range would sell out in a matter of hours as shoppers scrambled to own THE item of the season from the vests and tassel waistcoats to pretty tea dresses and tiny denim shorts.

The Oxford Circus store was a long-time mecca for fashionistas. I still remember the buzz of heading down the escalators, completely overwhelmed by the choice of clothes and not knowing quite which way to turn first, as you were plunged into retail heaven.

Yes, the brand has carried on online after being bought by Asos. But it just wasn’t the same.

Let us millennials relive our youth and bring back those physical stores.

The model’s SS14 collection was full to the brim with style staples inspired by the 70s, including fringed suede jackets, jump suits and maxi dresses.

The range also included embroidered smock-tops, silk blouses and graphic print kaftans that went on sale in high street stores globally and online.

Kate, who first collaborated with the legendary brand in 2007, was said to have taken inspiration from her own wardrobe.

Despite her status as a supermodel and a net worth of a staggering £40million, Kate’s wardrobe isn’t solely comprised of designer labels.

At the time, Topshop’s Sir Philip Green said: ”I am personally thrilled that Kate wanted to come back to Topshop to work with us again.

”The first time around was such a lot of fun and she has been sorely missed.

”The Topshop business has developed extensively around the globe since we launched with Kate in 2007.”

Kate added: ”I have really missed being involved in the design process and working with the team at Topshop.

”I am very excited to create a new collection that bears my name.

”Now more than ever with London being at the forefront of fashion as it feels like I’m back home.”

While Kate worked closely with the brand back in the day, it’s unclear whether the 51-year-old will rekindle the relationship in its next phase.

Elsewhere on Topshop’s website, a range of womenswear and menswear can be ordered online.

The brand’s full 2025 autumn and winter collection is going live on 16 August.
