As Pravda Media scrutinizes Israel with the most concentrated coverage of any war since World War II and accuses it of genocide using staged photos and Nazi-loving “journalists'” stories, an actual, intentional genocide of Christians in Africa is taking place with little attention.

The reason for this disparity in coverage is obvious; the “victims” in Gaza are Muslim, and those in Africa are Christian. To add insult to injury, the violence in Gaza is a conflict between Jewish Israel and Muslim Hamas, while the African genocide is being committed by black Muslims against black Christians, for the most part.

It just doesn’t fit the preferred “colonialist whites oppressing brown victims” narrative currently all the rage in leftist circles.

As Israelis struggle to deliver aid to civilians without Hamas murdering people and stealing the food, groups like ISIS and Boko Haram are beheading Christians in an orgy of violence. Far from being collateral damage, the whole point is to eradicate a population and ethnically cleanse a region.

International observers are reporting that ISIS-aligned soldiers are beheading Christians and burning churches and homes in central and southern Africa – with some of the most brutal attacks happening in the nation of Mozambique.

The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) – a counter-terrorism research nonprofit based in Washington, D.C. – is sounding that alarm about what it describes as a “silent genocide” taking place against Christians.

The Islamic State Mozambique Province (ISMP) recently released 20 photos boasting of four attacks on “Christian villages” in the Chiure district, in Mozambique’s northern Cabo Delgado province, according to MEMRI.

This genocide has been going on for years and has heated up dramatically in recent months. News outlets, though, can’t send journalists to cushy hotels in Western cities like Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, and nobody in the newsroom actually cares about Africans or Christians.

When was the last time you heard the term “Christophobia?” It’s just not a thing because most people working in Pravda Media hate Christians, too. Not that they would join in the violence, of course. They don’t approve of violence, but…

“That jihadist groups are in a position to take over not one, not two, but several countries in Africa – take over the whole country or most of several countries – is dangerous,” Fernandez, a former U.S. diplomat, said. “It’s very dangerous for the national security of the United States let alone the security of the poor people who are there – Christians or Muslims or whoever they are.”

The Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP) also recently released several photos of their own documenting a July 27 attack against the Christian village of Komanda in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Ituri province. Islamic State-affiliated soldiers opened fire at a Catholic Church and set fire to homes, stores, vehicles and possessions. At least 45 people were killed, according to MEMRI. The photos show burning facilities and the corpses of Christians.

Fernandez explained to Fox News Digital that the goal of these jihadist groups is “eliminating Christian communities,” as they push down from safe havens and Muslims are “given a choice: ‘either join us or you too will face killing and annihilation.’”

“Christians, of course, are not going to be asked to join,” Fernandez told Fox News Digital. “Christians are going to be targeted and destroyed.”

Ironically, these regions of Africa were Islamized through colonial invasions centuries ago, but as with “genocide,” colonialism is a sin only attributed to the West.

Thousands of Christian martyrs are suffering torture and death at the hands of these terrorist groups, with nary a peep.

The jihadist groups have been accused of beheading villagers and kidnapping children to be used as laborers or child soldiers. The U.N. estimates that the violence, and the impact of drought and several cyclones in recent years, has led to the displacement of more than 1 million people in northern Mozambique.

Fernandez said that he feels the Trump administration “has refreshingly been tough and strong when it comes to jihadist terrorism” – but what’s happening in Africa typically does not receive as much attention compared to the Middle East. He pointed to how Trump’s intervention in the U.S. brokering a ceasefire deal between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo helps offset jihadist groups that take advantage of security vacuums and ungoverned spaces to expand control.

Responses to human rights abuses are based almost solely on who commits or is accused of them. Whether this is due to Pravda sympathies for certain groups–as in Gaza–or a “hard bigotry of low expectations” depends on the context. I cannot read minds, but I can’t help thinking that the reaction to violence in Africa is at least partially determined by the elite’s expectation that certain populations cannot be expected to act in civilized manners.

This, I think, is why media figures will bend over backward to explain why “Kill the Boer” is perfectly innocent, or why “Death to America” is seen as benign. What do you expect, the elite think, they are third-worlders. It’s why Conan O’Brien could visit Haiti and claim, “Haiti is Great Already.” Sure, they occasionally eat each other, but what do you expect?”

I’ve even had conversations with liberals who have the courage to say it out loud–they don’t believe you can expect civilized behavior from some people, so you must make allowances. We expect better from Jews and Europeans.

I, on the other hand, do expect better. Iran was once a civilized country before the Islamists took over, and Muslims had a golden age with high culture, not 7th-century brutality dominating the culture.
