The ‘devastating’ tell-all book that could end Keir Starmer? No10 warned of ‘more damning revelations to come’ after key aide quits over explicit Diane Abbott messages

A ‘devastating’ new book contains ‘more damning revelations’ about Sir Keir Starmer‘s leadership of Labour, it has been claimed.

The Prime Minister saw the resignation of his No10 director of strategy on Monday after his explicit messages about senior MP Diane Abbott came to light.

Paul Ovenden quit as one of Sir Keir’s top Downing Street aides over the derogatory sexual remarks, which were sent via internal Labour communications in 2017.

The messages leading to the exit of Mr Ovenden, a close ally of Sir Keir’s chief of staff Morgan McSweeney, are among the details in a new book being published next month.

Sir Keir is being warned that other revelations in the book will risk more damage to his stumbling premiership.

Paul Holden, the author of ‘The Fraud: Keir Starmer, Morgan McSweeney and the Crisis of British Democracy’, claimed ‘a lot more revelations’ about senior figures at the heart of Sir Keir’s administration will soon emerge.

Left-wing allies of Jeremy Corbyn, Sir Keir’s predecessor as Labour leader, also said the book could inflict further damage on the Government.

‘I don’t know if more resignations are on the way. But there is definitely a lot more revelations on the way,’ Mr Holden said.

The author would not ‘name names’ ahead of his book’s publication, but added: ‘This is a book about a pretty narrow political project.

‘But a narrow political project that now occupies some of the most powerful positions in the country.

‘It touches on a lot of people in Government, in Cabinet, and advisers in No10.’

OR Books, the publisher of The Fraud, said Mr Ovenden’s messages about Ms Abbott were ‘the tip of the iceberg’ among the book’s ‘shocking revelations’.

Owen Jones, the left-wing journalist, said the book would be ‘devastating’, adding: ‘There’s going to be a lot more damning revelations to come.’

Alex Nunns, a former speechwriter for Mr Corbyn, said: ‘I hear it contains lots of other revelations Starmer and McSweeney really don’t need right now…’

Zarah Sultana, the ex-Labour MP, is currently launching a new left-wing party with Mr Corbyn.

She was quoted by the book’s publishers as saying: ‘Damning and deeply evidenced, this book chronicles the death of the Labour Party and illuminates the need for something new. A must-read.’

Over the past two weeks, despite attempting to move to ‘Phase Two’ of his premiership, Sir Keir has suffered a series of blows.

He saw Angela Rayner resign as Deputy PM over a tax row, which prompted a frantic reshuffle of his ministerial ranks.

Sir Keir was then forced to sack Lord Mandelson as Britain’s ambassador to the US over his links to notorious paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

The PM then suffered the depature of Mr Ovenden from his inner circle, which further fuelled claims of crisis in Downing Street.
