BOBSLEDDER Lisa Buckwitz says joining OnlyFans was “the best thing that could have happened to me” after funding her Winter Olympics campaign.
The German, 31, has been posting on the subscription platform since the end of 2024.
She decided to join OnlyFans because she wasn’t making enough money through sponsorships alone.
Buckwitz won a gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang and is now going for another at this year’s event at Milan Cortina.
But the spiralling costs of participating, including paying for her equipment and staff, meant she was forced to take other measures.
When asked about her decision to join OnlyFans by German outlet Bild, she said: “It’s a stroke of luck for me, as it allows me to finance my team.
“It’s the best thing that could have happened to me.”
She admitted it was “sad” she couldn’t rely purely on income from her bobsleigh events.
Buckwitz added: “It’s a bit sad that I can’t just focus on my competitive sport.
“Sure, I’m an Olympic champion. But nobody’s interested in Lisa Buckwitz just because of the gold medal. That’s unfortunately the downside.
“For me, it’s a sponsor that, alongside my service in the German Armed Forces, makes the sport possible. So, something completely normal.”
Buckwitz previously posed naked on the front cover of Playboy Germany to highlight the importance of natural beauty.
But she has insisted she won’t be posting any X-rated pictures on her platform.
When she first joined OnlyFans, she told Bild: “For me, it’s a real opportunity to show people what it means to compete at the highest level in this sport – beyond the competitive moments.
“This platform allows me to connect with my fans on a personal level and to network with people who are genuinely interested in competitive sport and my path in it.
“Fans get exclusive access to content that I don’t normally share – the daily grind, the dynamics within the team, and the personal milestones that often go unseen.
“I will post as often as I can and share everything – from fitness and nutrition tips to competition preparation to the rituals that help me focus on competition day.”
In addition to her Olympic successes, Buckwitz also became a world champion in 2024 during the two-woman event in Winterberg, Germany, and won bronze in the Monobob event.
