Amazon Prime Day starts next week in the UK and runs from the 8th to the 11th July. It’s the retail giant’s longest Prime event to date.
But big annual sales, don’t always mean the best prices. Finding the best deal, often means shopping around – and I’ve done that for you.
If you’re not a Prime member, or aren’t interested in scrolling thousands of Amazon’s Prime Day deals (that while good, might not be the best) there are plenty of other brands offering Prime-like prices on everything from kitchen essentials like pans and mugs to vacuum cleaners and tech.
We’ve spotted some mega deals events with discounts that are just as good as Amazon – and even some that you won’t find on the site.
You’ll be pleased to know these include deals on summer essential fans, cool boxes and ice cream makers – ideal if you’re looking to make this year’s heatwave a little more bearable.
If you’re due a vacuum upgrade, a new Ninja kitchen item or simply need to stock up on the essentials, these are the best sales to shop instead.
The brands rivalling Amazon Prime day this summer
Argos
The Argos summer sale is in full swing and there are plenty of deals on travel, tech and home products, including some we’ve tried and tested ourselves. After scouring the site for deals, these are the best and, in our opinion, most useful discounts we’ve found.
John Lewis
Retail giants John Lewis are also getting in on the summer sale action with huge discounts across home, tech, garden and more. Get savings of up to 50% on certain items and Amazon price matching on summer must-haves like BBQs. There are also some great prices on the brands own cooling, including this excellent handheld fan.
Le Creuset
Everyone loves a Le Creuset bargain and in its current summer sale there’s plenty on offer – including some great finds that aren’t discounted on Amazon. Highlights include mugs, pans and bakeware. Not all colours are discounted but there are still some impressive deals with 40% off.

Shark
Shark have some impressive deals across cleaning and beauty right now, including some website exclusives you won’t find elsewhere. If you’ve been considering a new vacuum or want to treat yourself to a new beauty buy, now is a good time.

Do you really get better deals on Prime Day?
With hundreds of deals going live throughout Prime week, you’d be right to think that not every deal is worth shouting about.
Some discounts only offer a few pounds off a product’s usual price, while other deals can be found outside of the Prime Day sales.
Despite this, you can still nab a bargain during Prime Day.
More often than not, you’ll see certain products discounted to their lowest-ever price and when that happens, we’ll let you know. You can follow our Prime Day deals roundups to get the lowdown on the latest deals.
We’d always suggest checking the price of a product you’re looking to buy a week or so before the deals period begins and comparing this to the Prime Day deal price.
Should I wait until Black Friday?
Not necessarily. There was a time when Black Friday offered the most exclusive deals around, especially in stores.
However, with more people swapping the high street for online shopping, these mega deals have disappeared in recent years, often replaced by ‘slightly cheaper than usual’ prices.
You can still get a great bargain during Black Friday, but not everything is significantly cheaper than other deals periods. Occasionally, retailers will sometimes hold back deals on newer products that have only been released a few months prior.
