The best beauty advent calendars to buy this year – from Boots to Lookfantastic

IT may seem early but the shops are already filling up with advent calendars for Christmas.

Most big beauty retailers bring out their own countdown to December 25, brimming with make-up and toiletries.

Some of the best offer big savings compared to buying individually.

Here’s what you need to know . . .

NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS: There’s no obligation to keep calendars for December. You can simply empty out the contents and give your beauty collection a boost.

Or you could use the haul itself as presents for others. Bundle up items into little sets to give as gifts, or most will work as stocking fillers.

BAGGING A BARGAIN: Beauty calendars aren’t cheap compared to your normal chocolate countdown.

So before investing it’s worth trying to work out which offer the best value and if you can make use of the items.

Most will tell you which products are included, as well as the total value compared to the price.

For example, The Rituals Deluxe Advent calendar is £137.90 for £196-worth of goodies — that’s a saving of around 30 per cent compared to buying the items individually.

BEST BUYS: A handful of calendars offer savings of well over 50 per cent. These often sell out ahead of December, so make a note of any that you want and buy sooner rather than later.

Some of the best we’ve seen include the Boots 24 Day premium advent calendar, £150, with products worth £612.50, making a saving of £462.50 or 75 per cent.

The Lookfantastic calendar is £105 from lookfantastic.com yet contains treats worth £655.

This marks a saving of £550 or around 84 per cent on buying individually.

Or the £90 calendar from glossybox.co.uk has products worth £624, saving £534 – a discount of about 86 per cent.
