Thanks to cleaning whizz Lynsey Crombie, also known as the ‘Queen of Clean,’ here’s a super simple but very effective hack that will get your child’s smelly water bottles glistening in no time at all.

Not only is it incredibly effective but it also banishes mould spots too.

Even better, it won’t cost you a lot and you probably already have the secret at home in your kitchen cupboards. 

Posting on social media, the best-selling author and columnist, who often appears on ITV’s This Morning and Good Morning Britain, revealed that she gets asked “all the time” about how to combat “smelly water bottles.”

Although she has shared tips in the past on using denture tablets to get water bottles sparkling, she claimed that if you’ve got a “stubborn mould patch” or “black spots,” then this may not always be enough.

Instead, she shared her three-ingredient hack that “works wonders” as she said: “Smelly water bottle or mould spots? Then it’s time for a deep clean.”

The cleaning guru advised: “Grab some hard rice and fill the bottle so it covers the bottom – half fill with water and then add a good drop of washing-up liquid.

“Give this the biggest shake and then leave it overnight.”

Once washed out the next day, Lynsey recognised: “The hard rice acts as an abrasive cleaner, scrubbing away those black marks and leaving your bottle lovely and clean.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @lynsey_queenofclean, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up 46,600 views and 777 likes.
