SNUGGLY SEASON

Shoppers are raving over M&S cardigan that’s like ‘wearing a cloud’

One shopper commented: “Love this so much that I bought it in red and navy.

“Looks great over wide leg trousers or jeans.”

Another wrote: “I got so many compliments when I wore mine to a party and can go anywhere with it.”

A third typed: “Quality of the product was very good.”

And another loyal customer said: “Great quality as always, always my first call when shopping for clothing great fit.”

The cardigan’s versatility is what seems to keep shoppers returning.

Many say it works well for day-to-day wear but can also be dressed up with jewellery, tailored trousers or a slip skirt for smarter occasions.

Others have highlighted how useful cropped knits are during spring and summer, giving warmth without feeling heavy.

Some buyers have already paired theirs with wide-leg jeans, denim skirts or high-waisted trousers, calling it a “throw-on piece” that instantly pulls an outfit together.

Fans of the M&S Collection also point out that the retailer frequently offers strong quality at affordable prices, and this half-price deal makes the cardigan even more appealing for anyone refreshing their wardrobe on a budget.

Several other retailers are also offering strong reductions right now, giving shoppers even more chances to refresh their wardrobes for less.

Over at H&M, the sale section features pieces with discounts of up to 50 per cent, including lightweight knitwear, spring blouses and everyday basics.

ASOS is also running sizeable reductions across thousands of items, with many dresses, jeans and knitwear styles sitting at half price.

For those who prefer a more classic, polished look, ZARA’s “Special Prices” section has become a go-to, with regular markdowns on trousers, blazers and knitwear.

Some of its textured cardigans and cropped jumpers – similar in feel to the M&S favourite, have been listed at nearly 50 per cent off, bringing many items down to around £15 to £20.

These limited-time reductions tend to sell out quickly, especially in neutral colours.

Is supermarket fashion the new high street?

DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in:

The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family.

Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a ‘strong growth in clothing’ and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street.

Asda’s clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury’s clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year.

So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful?

Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it’s good quality too – with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative.

A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year.

Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.
