YOU might not think of your bathroom as one of the most important rooms in your home, especially when it comes to home styling, but it’s certainly one of the busiest.
From hectic mornings to cosy evenings, it’s typically where your day begins and ends.
And for 2026, experts are predicting the humble bathroom will come into its own, with more of us focusing on what is typically the smallest room in the house to create a sanctuary vibe.
For bathroom expert Andrea Clewett, co-founder of Showerscape, it’s a room she firmly believes deserves just as much style and attention as any other room in the house.
She said: “Your bathroom should feel like a restful spa, and not a sterile white box.
“And whether it’s easing those early mornings into the day or long showers or baths to unwind, Andrea insists that the key to a good bathroom is warmth, colour, and lots of personality.”
Here are the expert’s top trends for what she predicts will be huge for 2026.
Art adorning the walls
Art on your walls doesn’t just show off your personality. It also adds a splash of colour and helps balance a blank wall, so your room doesn’t feel bare.
There are loads of websites with affordable prints, whether you’re into pop art, classic landscapes, or something more modern.
When picking pieces for your bathroom, try linking them to your colour scheme. If your bathroom’s blue, for instance, choose artwork with similar tones.
You could also switch things up with a contrasting shade or some earthy colours to bring in a bit of warmth.
Andrea said: “Just as you would have landscape views, idyllic photos or works of art hanging in your living room, this is now carried across into the bathroom.”
Feature wall
If you’re not keen on a complete overhaul, pick a single wall to stand out.
Whether using colour, tiles, texture or a pattern, a feature wall is an easy way to make your bathroom feel like a real style statement and as it’s only one wall, it’s a big impact with minimal effort.
Andrea explained: “As a manufacturer of floor-to-ceiling bespoke photographic shower walls with Showerscape, we’ve seen how homeowners have stamped their individuality on the space, and turned an everyday fixture into a design statement.
“Colour also plays a key role in personalisation. Customising the bath or vanity unit in a specific colour or shade helps tie the whole scheme together, whether you opt for deep, moody tones or vibrant, uplifting colours.
“Many of our customers have chosen blue or green vanity units, or even custom colours for their bath tub to match their shower panels to bring the whole design together.”
Mood lighting
A bright, clear light is great in the bathroom when you need it.
Think shaving, make-up or detailed grooming. But lighting sets the mood, too. For long soaks in the tub or early mornings before the sun’s up, softer mood lighting creates a warm and cosy vibe, so try to avoid the harsh glare of white light.
The expert said: “Light can totally reshape the feel of a bathroom, turning it into your own sanctuary. I always advise things like backlit mirrors, softly illuminated surfaces or even halo-style ceiling details.
“These touches are becoming real showstoppers in bathroom design. Don’t forget you can also add dimmers to your main light, letting you go from something bright and clear to soft and golden in seconds.
“It’s also a great idea if you have enough wall space, to add side wall lights to either side of your bathroom mirror, it can sometimes be a little softer and gives extra light when trying to do your makeup or getting ready.”
Smart loo
With tech moving at lightning speed, we all want homes that make life easier, and your bathroom should be no exception.
Andrea says the 2026 bathroom will be a room that works for you with motion sensor taps, remote shower controls connected to your phone, heated mirrors that never fog, motion-sensor lights and even toilets with clever cleaning features.
She explained: “These upgrades aren’t just cool gadgets. They make your daily routine smoother and make your bathroom smarter.”
Frameless showers
Showers shouldn’t make you feel boxed in or claustrophobic. And if your bathroom isn’t large enough for a bigger enclosure or a full shower room, frameless glass is a clever workaround.
It keeps water exactly where it should be while creating the illusion of more space.
Andrea said: “Something frameless will give your bathroom that boutique hotel or luxury spa-feel.
“Perfect for those evenings when you want to switch off and soak the day away.”
Go green
If you’re looking to make your bathroom more eco-friendly, recycled materials can be a seriously stylish choice.
From countertops and tiles made from reclaimed glass or wood, to sinks crafted from recycled ceramics, and even eco-friendly bath mats or shower curtains, there are plenty of ways to be kind to the planet AND your interior style.
Andrea says: “We’re becoming more conscious of our carbon footprints, so sourcing pieces that are recyclable or even adding water-saving gadgets to your bathroom is a small change that can make a real difference.
“Our Showerscape shower panels are recyclable after their long life, and
that’s really important to us.”
Freestanding tubs
If you love a relaxing soak, let your bath take centre stage.
A freestanding tub can become the focal point of the room, and Andrea advises going for structural shapes that feel like a work of art.
The expert says: “A unique tub is another way to make your bathroom feel more indulgent.
“The more luxurious the tub, the more luxurious the bath experience. And we all deserve the chance to switch off and unwind. Having a relaxing back-drop to your bath like our shower wall panels, adds dimension and an added sense of luxury.”
Statement basin
Bathroom basins are traditionally made usually ceramic or porcelain, but Andrea says opting for materials like stone, copper, or concrete will add texture and create a standout look.
She says: “2026 is a year to experiment with different visual interests, and a unique basin is a great place to start.
“Something like stone or concrete is not only striking, but it’s also durable. They can also be manufactured in many different finishes and colours to match your colour scheme e.g syncconcrete.com.
“There are also independent suppliers of basins such as The London Basin company which offers handmade basins in many different shapes, sizes and patterns to add interest and luxury to any bathroom.”
Floating vanity
Freeing up floor space is a clever way to make a smaller bathroom feel bigger, creating a sense of openness and a better flow.
Andrea said: “Try styles with rounded or arched edges.
“These silhouettes feel more stylish and less rigid and give a free-er flow around the room.”
Bring the outdoors in
One of the best ways to make your bathroom feel like a luxury spa is to create an area that feels as calming as nature.
Let light flood through the windows and use earthy tones and wood
accents where possible. You can also add in plants for a splash of greenery, or go one step further and turn your shower into a tranquil oasis.
The expert says: “‘A floor-to-ceiling photograph of a landscape, forest, or artwork can give a sense of depth to an otherwise flat surface, like having a full-height window within the room.
“Showerscape shower panels were ‘invented’ with this in mind, allowing people to transport themselves somewhere peaceful no matter where they may be.”
