The Argentine, 27, also got hit with a £30,000 fine – £18,500 of which is suspended.

Aboian, who is ranked No648 in the world, confessed he had deliberately fixed eight of his own matches across singles and doubles.

Those came of the ITF World Tennis Tour and the ATP Challenger Tour – the level below the main ATP Tour – between 2018 and 2025.

A lengthy International Tennis Integrity Agency statement confirmed Aboian admitted to all of the charges.

His offences included “facilitating wagering, contriving the outcome of events, receiving payment not to give best efforts and failure to report corrupt approaches”.

Aboian’s ban of six years and nine months takes effect from September 2025, meaning he will be eligible to return to tennis in June 2032.

The statement continued: “The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) today confirms that Argentinian tennis player Leonardo Aboian has been suspended for a period of six years and nine months, and fined $40,000 (of which $25,000 is suspended) after admitting to 30 breaches of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP).

“Aboian, who reached a career-high world singles ranking of 229 in April 2025, accepted an agreed sanction with the ITIA and waived their right to a hearing before an independent Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer (AHO).

“Time served under provisional suspension will be credited against the player’s period of ineligibility.

“Having been provisionally suspended since 19 September 2025, Aboian’s suspension will end on 18 June 2032, subject to repayment of outstanding fines.

“During the period of ineligibility, Aboian is prohibited from playing in, coaching at, or attending any tennis event authorised or sanctioned by the members of the ITIA (ATP, ITF, WTA, Tennis Australia, Federation Francaise de Tennis, Wimbledon and USTA) or any national association.

“The ITIA is an independent body established by its tennis funders to promote, encourage, enhance, and safeguard the integrity of their professional tennis events.”

The ITIA announced earlier this week that three players – including a 20-year-old Russian – had been provisionally suspended on anti-corruption charges.

Earlier in the month, Aboian’s compatriot Hernan Casanova admitted to betting on tennis and failing to report a corrupt approach.

The ITIA also looks after drugs and anti-doping cases – including those of world No2s Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek in recent years.
