
A TEENAGER has been charged with attempted murder after a man suffered “serious injuries” during an alleged shooting.
The victim, aged in his 30s, was rushed to hospital after being shot in his leg and shoulder during the horror in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
Emergency crews were scrambled to Smiths Avenue in the Marsh area just after 8pm on December 1.
After reportedly being shot twice, the victim was located by cops on nearby New Hey Road, before being rushed to hospital.
He was described as being in a “serious condition”, but his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
On Saturday, four men were arrested from addresses in nearby Bradford, Brighouse and Halifax.
South Yorkshire Police has since confirmed Nathaniel Collins, 19, has been charged with one count of attempted murder.
Three other men arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on bail as a probe remains ongoing.
Collins will appear at Bradford Magistrates Court tomorrow.
The force said: “A man has now been charged as part of the investigation into a firearms discharge on Smiths Avenue in the Marsh area of Huddersfield on December 1.
“Nathaniel Collins, of St Pauls Road, Manningham is charged with one count of attempted murder.
“The 19-year-old has been remanded in custody to appear at Bradford Magistrates Court tomorrow.
“Three other men who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have been released on bail while enquiries continue.”
Detective Inspector Suzanne Hall, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, confirmed it was being treated as a “targeted attack”.
She previously said: “We understand the concern that it will cause that someone has been injured in a firearms incident.
“We are following up all available lines of enquiry to ensure those involved are caught and any weapons used are recovered and taken off our streets.
“Any use of a firearm is something we treat extremely seriously. This is being treated as a targeted attack.
“I would urge anyone who witnessed the events surrounding the firearms discharge to please make contact.
“Any information, however small it may seem, could hugely assist our investigations.”
