A TEACUP was found in a man’s bottom after he went to hospital complaining of constipation.

The patient had been unable to go to the toilet for three days.

He eventually went to doctors at the Dajia Li General Hospital in Taichung City, Taiwan with severe abdominal bloating and pain.

An X-ray revealed there was a ceramic cup inside him.

Measuring around 6cm wide and 8cm tall, medics tried to remove the piece of crockery.

Whilst they used instruments to try to get it out, the cup’s smooth surface made it difficult for them to grip on to.

Attempts to use laparoscopy also failed as doctors were concerned too much force could break the cup.

This would cause further injury and even infection.

Already, part of the man’s intestine was losing blood supply and was on the verge of failing.

They found the best option would be for an emergency surgery to be carried out under general anaesthesia.

A two-hour procedure led to Dr Wu Kunda and his team being able to successfully open the man’s abdomen and intestine.

They removed the cup, and also created a temporary colostomy so their patient could pass stool.

Dr Wu said the man was too embarrassed to share what the real cause of his abdominal pain was.

“Truly unbelievable, even I was shocked when I saw it,” the doctor recounted.

The man had tried to push the cup out on his own but was unsuccessful.

When asked how the cup ended up inside him, the patient is said to have just responded: “I don’t know, it was an accident.”

It is not the only strange object that doctors have found in their patient’s bodies through X-rays.

Earlier in the year, a Scottish woman took an extreme measure to stop her friend from going home during a night out.

The 35-year-old from Edinburgh gobbled down her best friend’s door key as a prank to stop her leaving the pub.

Her drunken stunt backfired though, as she ended up in A&E with an X-ray revealing the metal key had gone into her large intestine.

Doctors in Tanzania have also been shocked when a man was found to be living with a knife lodged in his chest for eight years after he complained of sore nipples.
