Suri Cruise has debuted a new belly button piercing while in New York City on Friday.
The 19-year-old daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise showed off the sparkly piece of jewelry when flashing her tummy in a white cropped tank top.
Belly button piercings, also called naval piercings, first came to be in ancient Egypt, and became popular in the late 1990s when Britney Spears wore one.
It is most commonly located on the upper fold of skin but can also be placed underneath the navel. Healing usually takes around 6 to 12 months. Miley Cyrus, Addison Rae, Vanessa Hudgens and Dua Lipa also have belly piercings.
In the US, the minimum age for getting a belly button piercing typically falls between 16 and 18, but this can vary by state.
Suri’s mom Katie does not seem to have a belly piercing, but she does have a nose piercing.
The Carnegie Mellon college student added to-the-knee pale gray sweatpants and a pair of black Mary Jane shoes. She seems to be taking after her Hollywood star mother, who often models the same types of shoes.

Cruise wore her hair down with a hair tie around her wrist as she carried only a cell phone during her solo stroll in sunny in Manhattan.
Earlier this week Suri opted for a sporty look, putting on in a silver asymmetric top and navy leggings.
Cruise was seen heading down the street towards a subway station to join the millions of daily passengers on the world’s best-known metro system.
The teen has also been seen heading to the gym alone.
Suri began college last fall after graduating from New York’s famous LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts earlier in the year.
The high school, which was said to have inspired the movie Fame, has churned out a formidable array of celebrities over the years.
Notable alumni range from Al Pacino and Liza Minnelli to Jennifer Aniston and Adrien Brody to newer faces like Ansel Elgort and Timothee Chalamet.
Having graduated high school, Suri moved to Pittsburgh to attend Carnegie Mellon, a prestigious arts college where she was said to be ‘leaning towards’ studying fashion.

Suri’s mother was said to be ‘overwhelmed’ at the prospect of her moving away.

Katie, who shot to fame on the teen drama Dawson’s Creek, started dating Tom in 2005 and got engaged to him seven weeks into the relationship.

Tom has not been pictured with his daughter in about 13 years, and in 2018 it was alleged that he had created distance between himself and Suri.
