Super Cup LIVE SCORE: PSG vs Tottenham on NOW as Champions League kings face Europa League winners – latest updates

Bissouma AXED from squad

Yves Bissouma has been axed from Tottenham’s Super Cup showdown with Paris Saint-Germain.

Thomas Frank revealed the midfielder will play no part in tonight’s match between the Europa League and Champions League winners for disciplinary reasons.

Bissouma was left at home as the rest of his Tottenham teammates travelled to Udine, Italy for tonight’s battle.

And yesterday new Spurs boss Frank said: “Bissouma has not travelled with the team because of disciplinary reasons. He has been late several times and the latest time was one too many.

“With everything you need to give your players a lot of love but also have demands and there also need to be consequences and this time there was a consequence for that.

“For me there has been, how can I say it, a consequence for this trip and then I will follow up when I come home.

“I will park it now because there is a relatively important game for tomorrow.

“The captain will be announced for the squad tomorrow. The leadership group will be named at the end of this month.”

Last five Super Cup winners

Real Madrid are the only side to have won the Super Cup multiple times in the last five years.

Los Blancos are the current holders after beating Atalanta last year.

Two English teams have won the Super Cup in the last five years – Man City in 2023 and Chelsea in 2021.

  • 2024: Real Madrid 2-0 Atalanta
  • 2023: Man City 1-1 (AET) Sevilla – Man City won 5-4 on penalties
  • 2022: Real Madrid 2-0 Eintracht Frankfurt
  • 2021: Chelsea 1-1 (AET) Villarreal – Chelsea won 6-5 on penalties
  • 2020: Bayern Munich 2-1 (AET) Sevilla

Donna’s a goner

PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was left out of the squad for tonight’s Super Cup as he is being forced out by boss Luis Enrique.

The French giants signed Lille’s Bruno Chevalier as his replacement this month, with Donnarumma set to leave the club this window.

The Italian shot stopper is wanted by a flurry of sides, with many Premier League clubs interested.

Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd have all been linked with the former AC Milan goalkeeper.

City are eyeing a cut-price move for Donnarumma – but only if Ederson is tempted by Galatasaray’s Turkish delights.

The PSG keeper is available for around £40m from the European champions after a contract fall-out, although he wants a 50 per cent rise on his current £210,000 per week salary.

Frank names new skipper

Thomas Frank was left with a big decision to make ahead of the new season after former captain Son Heung-Min left for LAFC earlier this summer.

The former Brentford boss named Cristian Romero as his new captain for the new season and the Argentine will don the armband tonight.

In a post on X, Romero said:  “Today begins a new season for us, one that is truly special to me.

“Becoming the first captain of this beautiful club is an incredible honour. I arrived here four years ago with a single dream: to write my name into the club’s history and leave my mark by winning a trophy, and I achieved that.

“Now, a new journey is in front of us. A beautiful season lies ahead, and together we will work to relive the joy of that unforgettable day, May 21, 2025.

“Whatever happens along the way, I ask only one thing: stay united. There will be highs and lows, but together, nothing is impossible. Come on you Spurs.”

Good evening and welcome to SunSport’s live blog of the Super Cup!

Champions League kings PSG take on Europa League winners Tottenham in the blockbuster clash in Italy.

Spurs will have a new look to the side that beat Manchester United 1-0 to end their 17-year wait for a major trophy.

Daniel Levy sacked Ange Postecoglou just 16 days after the North London outfit triumphed in Bilbao and replaced him with Brentford boss Thomas Frank.

The Dane could claim silverware in his first competitive match at the helm as Spurs eye a second European trophy in less than three months.

Frank’s men face a wounded PSG side that lost 3-0 to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final in July.

The Parisians haven’t featured since then and will be looking to bounce back by winning their fifth trophy of the season.
