STRICTLY Come Dancing star Alex Kingston has spoken out to reassure fans that she’s fine after concerned was sparked over an injury.
The Doctor Who star is currently partnered with Johannes Radebe in the BBC dancing competition – and has made it through to the final six.
But after three of her co-stars have been forced to withdraw from the show, including La Voix, who left the series this weekend due to injury.
So fears were raised when Alex’s daughter also shared she had been injured as part of her dance training.
Wanting to set the record straight, Alex took to Instagram this evening after the Sunday show.
She in a statement: “I just want to assure everyone that I am completely fine.
“It is a minor injury… it’s all part and parcel of dancing at these levels. The comment was made by my concerned and loving daughter… nothing more.”
“I will be on the dance floor as early as tomorrow morning… rehearsing. Super excited for next week! Cha Cha Cha,” she concluded, adding dancing emojis for emphasis.
Alex’s daughter, Salome Violetta Haertel, shared her concern on Instagram on Sunday morning after Alex’s performance at Blackpool.
She wrote underneath a video of Alex and Johannes’ performance: “So so proud!!! Slayed the dance floor, dislocated rib and all!!!”
One fan was quick to react and wrote: “Your mum is a superstar (you already knew that) – please send her my love and healing thoughts.
‘Really hope it doesn’t hamper her from continuing – she has my votes every week!”
Another mused: “She did amazingly with an injury! Hope she recovers enough to continue.”
Strictly Done Dancing
While it is common for injuries to occur due to the intense training, this year’s Strictly has seen three stars quit under doctors orders.
Dani Dyer made an early exit, leaving before the first live show, after fracturing her ankle during initial rehearsals with Nikita Kuzmin.
She had already filmed the launch show when the injury occurred, with Amber Davies stepping in with days to spare before the first live show to replace her.
Just a few weeks later Neighbours star Stefan Dennis was also left with no choice but to withdraw after a painful calf injury.
He was partnered with Dianne Buswell, and was initially given a bye week in the hopes that he could recover and return.
This week, as the show reached its annual Blackpool celebration, La Voix was announced to have sustained an injury, also being given a “bye” week so she could recover.
Unfortunately by Saturday’s live show it was apparent that she would not heal in time, and it was announced on air that she would have to withdraw from the show.
This prompted a show shake-up, confirming no one would be voted off this week, with votes and judges scores rolling over to next week instead.
La Voix was present at Blackpool Tower Ballroom, and later gave an emotional exit interview to Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, before an adapted farewell “dance” with partner Aljaz Skorjanec.
Rather than move around the dancefloor, drag queen La Voix was descended from the ceiling in a flower heart, before being picked up by Aljaz and spun around in his arms before the cast joined to say their goodbyes.
