A STRICTLY star has announced that a huge 90s band will perform in Blackpool, but admitted ‘I don’t know who they are.’
Alex Kingston, who is one of the celebrities starring on this year’s show, revealed the exciting news while on It Takes Two.
The 62-year-old actress revealed that Steps will be performing in Blackpool – the British pop group consisting of Lee Latchford-Evans, Claire Richards, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer and Ian “H” Watkins.
But despite fan excitement on socials, Alex didn’t seem to know who they are.
She said: “Steps are going to be performing, but I have no idea who Steps are – I was living in America at the time that they had their success.”
The studio erupted with laughter as Alex looked around smiling, and host Fleur East playfully added: “Oh, there’s so much for you to learn.”
It comes after Strictly’s La Voix has had to pull out of this week’s performance in Blackpool due to injury.
As a result, It Takes Two viewers were left really confused on Tuesday evening as host Fleur East told fans she would be performing to John Paul Young’s Love is in the Air.
The announcement played out after It Takes Two was pre-recorded before La Voix was forced to pull out.
The BBC added a message on-screen, which read: “Sadly La Voix will not be dancing this weekend due to injury.
“But in line with the rules, will receive a bye into next week.”
It sparked fury with fans, with one writing: “They specifically say that #ItTakesTwo is live, but they just had to put a message on screen with the fact that La Voix isn’t dancing, so they clearly aren’t live when that was hours ago?!“
A viewer wrote: “Am I the only person who thought that #ItTakesTwo was live?!?!!“
Another added: “Erm thought #ItTakesTwo was live ??? The La Voix news broke 3 hrs ago !!??? Typical.”
Someone else added: “No La Voix mention at the start of tonight’s #ItTakesTwo – that’s how you can tell it’s not LIVE on a Tuesday.”
The RuPaul’s Drag Race star, 45, broke the news to Strictly fans on social media – confessing they were devastated about being forced to pull out.
A statement from the star read: “It is with immense sadness that I have to withdraw from this weekend’s Strictly Come Dancing shows in Blackpool.
“Due to an injury, I’ve been advised that I’m unable to perform, and my heart truly breaks knowing I won’t be dancing in such an iconic venue.
“Aljaž and I have worked incredibly hard, and we were so excited to share our routine with everyone.
“I am devastated not to be joining the rest of the cast on that famous dancefloor, but my focus now is on recovery.
“I’ll be cheering on all the amazing couples this weekend.”
