STRICTLY bosses have ripped up the rulebook – making a massive shake-up to the dance-off that’s left both contestants and viewers reeling.
Usually, head judge Shirley Ballas has the deciding vote in the dreaded dance-off – but in a shock twist, that rule has now been scrapped.
The show has revealed that instead of Shirley holding all the power, each week a different judge will take the hot seat and have the final say.
This means the casting vote could fall to Craig Revel Horwood, Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse or still Shirley herself.
This change adds even more unpredictability to the competition -meaning no celeb is safe from a surprise exit.
The rule change has left contestants feeling even more “nervous” about the dance-offs and eliminations.
Vicky Pattison said: “This changes everything.”
Harry Aikines-Aryeetey remarked: “What a twist!”
Balvinder Sopal commented: “I was nervous, but this is another level.”
Karen Carney asked: “So it might be down to Craig?”
George Clarke joked: “Is it too late to run away?”
Viewers were left stunned by the shake-up, flooding social media with reactions.
Taking to X, one wrote: “That’s a good idea to mix up the judges deciding vote.”
Another added: “I think Shirley must have been sick of getting all the flack for making the deciding votes. Think it’s a subtle and interesting way of spicing the results show up a little!”
A third penned: “Okay that’s an interesting twist to the head judge vote.”
Strictly announced the huge rule change at the end of their week one live show.
The first live show was full of memorable moments from Gladiators star Harry aka Nitro choking back tears after making his Strictly debut after a devastating injury.
And pregnant Dianne Buswell took to the Strictly floor for the first time after hitting back at a troll.
Strictly judges gave a celeb the second lowest score in the show’s history.
And Strictly viewers were gobsmacked as Ross King’s stunning girlfriend was revealed after flying 5,000 miles to support him.
It also marked the first time a footballer has topped the leaderboard in 18 years, after Karen wowed the judges with a very fast and high-energy jive.
