IT can be a massive chore to get rid of ugly weeds, especially during the cold winter months.
There are loads of tips and tricks out there to get the job done, from sprinkling salt to splurging on weed killer.

But you don’t need to cover your patio in salt and risk causing harm to wildlife or other plants – this hack does the trick and won’t break the bank.
Instead, Jonathan Doyle, an expert from Water Drop, revealed using boiling water is one of the best ways to kill weeds.
“Boiling water will work because it essentially cooks the weed’s cells. The high-temperature heat kills the cell structure and the plant’s proteins, and the weed will die and wither.
“Since this is chemical-free and environmentally friendly, this only uses heat and water and doesn’t introduce any type of toxins into your garden dirt or surrounding waters,” he told the Express.
This method doesn’t rely on harsh chemicals that can harm local wildlife, and unlike salt, it won’t damage the ground either.
In fact, Trevor Knight, an award-winning landscaper and expert at Marshalls, previously warned against using salt on your patio at all.
“Salt gets into cracks, and when it absorbs moisture, the material expands and contracts, leading to cracking and degradation over time,” Trevor said.
Meanwhile, using boiling water means you don’t have to worry about causing costly damage to your patio or the environment.
How it works: simply boil the kettle and generously pour the water directly over the weeds.
The weeds will appear wilted instantly, but don’t worry if it takes several hours or days for the boiling water to work fully.
You can repeat the process every 24 hours to get the best results too.
The weeds should instantly look wilted, but it can take a few hours or even a day for them to completely die off.
