Steph McGovern is set to return to screen with a brand new show for the BBC after her programme was axed.

The presenter, 43, waved goodbye to her daytime series Steph’s Packed Lunch, which aired on Channel 4, in 2023 when it was pulled from the schedules.

Now she’s set for a new role on the BBC, The Art Game, which sees a group of contestants challenged to buy and sell artworks.

The six-part limited series will premiere in 2026 with the exact date yet to be announced.

A source said: ‘This is a really interesting gig for Steph and taps into her mind for business and head for figures because art is worth billions of pounds.

‘Overall, the aim of the show is to lift the curtain on a sphere of life which most people have a skim understanding of, but most of the mechanics of it remains a mystery.’

They added to The Sun‘They hope to introduce viewers to some little-known facts about the art market, as well as dispel a few lingering myths as well.’

Daily Mail has contacted the BBC for comment.

Steph, after working as BBC Breakfast’s business presenter and a programme co-host, began leading her own daytime chat show Steph’s Packed Lunch in 2020.

But after the Channel 4 programme was axed in 2023, viewers have been missing her presence on daytime TV.

Earlier this month, Steph revealed she would be taking over legendary BBC series Crimewatch Live.

Revealing she was back on screen, she posed for a photo alongside her co-presenter Rav Wilding.

Smiling in a denim jumpsuit, Steph smiled at the camera as she wrote to her followers on X: ‘The news is out. Starting Monday #Crimewatch.’

In the background, the Crimewatch Live logo had been displayed on a TV screen.

Steph isn’t the only newcomer to the BBC show, with Scottish presenter Jennifer Reoch also part of the new line-up for the long-running series.

While Steph will feature on the programme for the first two Mondays and Tuesdays, with Jennifer filling in Wednesdays to Fridays, Steph will host the entire third week of shows.

It’s been 40 years since the original Crimewatch, which combines the reconstruction of unsolved crimes and public appeals, series launched.

Since launching as Crimewatch Live, the series has led to a number of breakthroughs for police, including arrests and charges.

The new series, which will run for three weeks, will feature a new set of reconstructions, ‘wanted’ appeals and updates of ongoing cases.

It’ll cover crimes that range from robbery to assault and murder.
