From Team Beckham to Clan Ramsay, from celebrity fallout to family feud, it’s certainly been a year for seeing the rich and famous dragged down just like the rest of us. And, boy, do they like to lash out.
I’ve had one or two run-ins of my own in 2025, mostly when I’ve dared to reveal what’s really going on with today’s nepo babies and thin-skinned reality ‘stars’.
Some viciously attacked me on social media. Others quietly blocked me.
So, who sent angry messages via mutual friends? Who’s still stewing, and who’s made up? And who was so very, very cross they wasted their money on pointless legal letters? Read on for the unvarnished (and embarrassingly peevish) truth…
Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz
Like David and Victoria Beckham, Katie Hind has also been blocked by Brooklyn and Nicola
I know how David and Victoria Beckham must feel right now as I, too, have been blocked by the young whingers-in-exile, Brooklyn and Nicola. Why? Because they didn’t like my coverage of their extraordinary family feud. Diddums!
In May, when I criticised their decision to snub David’s 50th birthday celebrations, Brooklyn and Nicola, pictured, lost no time in making their feelings clear – and childishly banned me from looking at their social media.
They also unleashed their PR team to complain that I am a ‘biased’ journalist because my Instagram profile picture shows me smiling next to former England captain Sir David.
It makes no sense, of course. After all, I’ve been scathing of Becks in the past, not least when, in 2021, I revealed his lucrative deal to be the face of next year’s Qatar World Cup despite the country’s anti-women and anti-gay stance.
The Beckham-Peltzes showed what very thin skin they have later in the year, too, when their friends briefed the US media that I was trying to keep stories attacking Brooklyn’s mum and dad out of these pages! As if…
Mark Wright
Katie Hind has experienced an up-and-down year with TV personality Mark Wright
He won millions of fans when he took part in Strictly back in 2014. But I first met Mark many years before that when he was the best friend of Jade Goody’s husband, Jack Tweed.
The TV personality was always happy to help me with a story. This year, however, I covered his family rifts and fallouts with his friends. It left Mark and his sister, Jess, fuming.
There is a happy ending to this one, however. During the summer I was having lunch with Mark’s agent Jonathan Shalit at the London members’ club Soho House when the handsome Essex star appeared from nowhere. He wanted to know why I had been writing what he considered to be ‘mean’ articles about him.
‘Kate, what are you playing at,’ he asked. ‘I thought we were friends, we go back years.’
But after telling me I’d upset him, he thanked me for being nice to his lovely wife, Michelle Keegan, and was thrilled when I told him our readers love to read about him.
Paddy McGuinness
She expects further colourful run-ins with Paddy McGuinness, but won’t stop telling the truth
Another star who thinks he can tell newspapers what to publish is former Top Gear presenter Paddy. Some of my rivals prefer to do fluffy interviews with him, but I think our readers deserve the truth – such as when I wrote I’d heard he made ex-wife Christine sign a non-disclosure agreement as part of their divorce. He took to social media to say I’d lied, which culminated in me receiving death threats from his followers.
I also told how Christine fears Paddy has purposely inflated the price of their marital home in Cheshire to make it harder to sell (months later, it still hasn’t), ensuring a delay in her receiving a share of the assets.
And I reported he didn’t want Christine to take part in a Channel 4 show, Celebs Go Dating, as he couldn’t cope with her being in the limelight.
I know Paddy calls me vile names behind the scenes, but that will never stop me telling the truth. Here’s to more colourful run-ins this coming year.
Tina O’Brien
Corrie star Tina O’Brien got into an identity mix-up on social media over an article about her
I have always liked Tina, who plays Sarah Platt in Coronation Street. She is one of the show’s long-serving stars.
But a feud began two years ago when I wrote that her daughter Scarlett (from her relationship with co-star Ryan Thomas) had a landed a role in the BBC drama Waterloo Road – perhaps with a helping hand from her famous parents.
And it all blew up again this year when she slated me on social media in a bizarre case of mistaken identity. She thought I’d written a story about her looking upset while walking her dog. In fact, she was sad because her father had died.
As it happens, I didn’t write that story. But that didn’t stop her lambasting me, saying: ‘Shout-out to Katie Hind for bravely reporting the news while leaving out the entire reason I looked ‘downcast’. Life has a funny way of showing you who has a heart. Some things reveal more about the writer than the subject.’
How true!
Thomas Skinner (and his mistress)
Thomas Skinner’s mistress, Amy-Lucy O’Rourke, sent Katie a barrage of abusive messages
When it emerged that married Apprentice star Thomas had been unfaithful, another paper allowed him to claim the affair was no more than a one-off fling.
But the mistress in question, Amy-Lucy O’Rourke, then called to give me the full, unvarnished truth: the romance had been going on for months. Thomas, who was about to make his Strictly debut, was raging. My story had caught him out.
But what I didn’t expect was for Amy-Lucy to join in.
‘You’re a b****, you’re a c***,’ she screamed in a series of WhatsApp voicenotes and abusive texts. Then she attacked me on social media, saying that I had written lies.
It seems she didn’t like being called a ‘beautician’. Just to be clear, she is an ‘aesthetician’.
Simon Cowell
Simon Cowell’s publicist sent Katie a series of angry emails after she wrote a story about him
I’m quite sure that Simon is a very nice man, but it’s important to be clear that I’ve never been one of his special journalist friends. And that means I’m not obliged to churn out favourable PR spin about him.
So when it came to his comeback Netflix series, Simon Cowell: The Next Act, I felt free to report that the show was struggling to find singers to audition for the new boy band he wanted to create.
I also said it would focus more on him than on the music. This prompted his publicist to send a series of angry emails. And when the show launched, I was ‘punished’ by being banned from the premiere. Somehow, I survived.
Now I’ve finally been able to watch this feeble insult to the viewers, I’m happy to confirm my reporting was correct. Simon moans about how late his auditionees turned up. And his home life is heavily featured on the show!
Eamonn Holmes
Readers love to hear about Eamonn Holmes’ love life with marriage counsellor Katie Alexander
‘That Katie Hind is obsessed with me,’ bellowed Eamonn at the GB News headquarters, where he hosts its breakfast show. That’s according to one of his colleagues, and I don’t doubt it’s true.
I’m certainly not obsessed with Eamonn but, then again, he’s given me plenty to write about.
Readers love to hear the latest on his colourful love life with marriage counsellor Katie Alexander, 21 years his junior. That romance began following his split from presenter Ruth Langsford.
‘Eamonn won’t speak to you ever again,’ one of his friends warned me. I’ll cope, I’m sure.
Amanda Abbington
Actress and former Strictly contestant Amanda Abbington absolutely despises Katie Hind
Actress Amanda despises me. We know this because at the start of the year, she described a group of female journalists including me as ‘low, dreadful, scheming, lying, bitchy bullies’ and promised that we were on her ‘list’. Nice. My crime? Writing the truth about those flimsy allegations against her Strictly dance partner, Giovanni Pernice.
He was cleared of the most serious claims of misbehaviour she’d thrown at him following a BBC investigation. It also emerged that Amanda had used foul language before Gio did. What’s wrong with reporting it?
Spencer Matthews
Spencer Matthews believes Katie Hind has got a bee in her bonnet about the ‘entrepreneur’
Oh dear. Spencer Matthews thinks I’ve got a bee in my bonnet about the ‘entrepreneur’, who is best known for appearing on Made in Chelsea and being Pippa Middleton’s brother-in-law. It’s not true, although I do write about Spencer. But that’s because I hear some rather unpleasant tales about his behaviour, which don’t sit well with the way he portrays himself online.
I have written about his rift with former best friend, the lovely Jamie Laing, for example. I also revealed how he ditched the loyal management team who had catapulted him to fame.
I’ve reported on his close friendships with Christine McGuinness and Les Dawson’s daughter, Charlotte. As for his wife Vogue Williams, I think she’s great, and I’m sorry she didn’t win I’m a Celebrity.
Coleen Nolan
Coleen Nolan didn’t want the fact she hadn’t seen her granddaughter for years to be published
Coleen loves to share her family life on Instagram and seemed delighted when her son, Shane Junior, welcomed a baby girl in 2016.
But when I discovered that Coleen hadn’t seen her granddaughter for years, she instructed lawyers to say the story wasn’t true, which was a waste of time.
Coleen didn’t want this sad state of affairs coming out because it’s at odds with the life she portrays online. But that’s her problem.
So, here’s to 2026 and another year of celebrity mishaps. I predict highlights, lowlights, feuds and misbehaviour, legal letters, attacks on social media – and another bumper crop of bruised egos. And I look forward to telling you all about it…
