A STAR of an iconic reality series has revealed how the show’s makeover left her “partially bald”, 22 years later after having an “oozing head wound”
The reality star, now 43 triumphed in the first ever season of a HUGE TV show back in 2002.
The star in question is Adrianne Curry, who won the first ever series of America’s Top Model.
However the Illinois-born star has revealed she is still suffering from affects from being the show, which at the time was hosted by Tyra Banks.
The former reality star – who has since swapped Hollywood life for the country – has opened up about the hair loss she has suffered after being made to wear a weave.
Back in the noughties, America’s Next Top Model famously gave the contestants a “make-over”.
But Adrianne claims her make-over has left her with bald spots that still show 22 years on.
In a candid Instagram video the star, who now goes for a more natural look these days, told fans: “I wanted to discuss why I’m partially bald right here and there. Like hair doesn’t grow anymore.
“And the reason is, is when I was on Top Model, Tyra Banks told them to put a weave in my hair.
“Now the black stylists that were putting it in pulled her aside and I heard them tell her like, ‘You know, this white chick’s hair is too fragile for this.’
“And she’s like, ‘Oh no, no, I just do it.’ Fast forward halfway through the show.
“I had oozing wound from the braids. Half my hair had been ripped out here. “
Pointing to where her hair had thinned, Adrianne said: “Like look at the little bit of hair that grows here. That’s it now, baby hair.”
SPILLING THE BEANS
This isn’t the first time Adrianne has opened up about the affect America’s Top Model has had on her.
She previously told the HuffPost: “There was that element then of no one knowing what the f**k it was.
“It wasn’t as if the contestants went on saying to themselves ‘I’m going to be the sassy one,’ ‘I’ll be the sexy one.’
“Everyone went in being themselves and being afraid (laughs). Nobody knew what the hell they were doing and it ended up as great TV!”
Adrianne has also had a public on and off screen feud with host and series creator, Tyra.
It centred on Adrianne’s claims that the show made her look like a “diva.”
She wrote in a blog post how she had reached out to Tyra and the TV show after she suspected issues with her contract, only for her phone calls to be “ignored.”
In the lengthy post she told how she looked at Tyra as her “angel” yet believed ultimately she “didn’t give a f**k” about her.
In The Truth About Top Model post she also addressed her behaviour on show The Surreal Life – including barbed comments towards Tyra.
She added: “I took joy in knowing it would bother people. It was my ode to F**K YOU. I took every opportunity to let press know I was never paid or given my prize.
“I’d talk s**t about Tyra just to do it. Revenge was sweet.
“I talked mad s**t that I wouldn’t do now, I was a kid.”
NEW LIFE
Meanwhile, Adrianne has since ditched fame for life living on a farm.
She is also happily married to husband Matthew Rhode.
The couple moved to Montana for what they called a “normal rural life”, and Adrianne now sells Avon products, instaed of strutting the catwalk.
