After a thrilling second season that started with a whopping 225 deaths in the premiere, Netflix is getting ready to bring Squid Game to an end.
The streaming service debuted the first trailer for Squid Game’s third and final season, which, as previously announced, will debut June 27.
The trailer – via Netflix YouTube – reveals that Player 456 a.k.a. Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) is back to try and end the games once and for all.
The first season debuted in 2021 and was a global phenomenon, becoming Netflix’s most-watched series and the first foreign-language show to win Outstanding Drama Series at the Emmys.
The second season returned in December, bringing back Gi-hun as he forgoes reuniting with his daughter in America for tracking down the mysterious Front Man.
Series creator Hwang Dong-hyuk shot both Season 2 and Season 3 back-to-back, to bring this beloved series to a close, which has fans reacting strongly to a cryptic shot at the very end.

The second season returned in December, bringing back Gi-hun as he forgoes reuniting with his daughter in America for tracking down the mysterious Front Man.
The trailer begins with the mysterious pink-clad men carrying in a coffin to the players’ dormitory area, as it’s revealed a very alive Gi-hun is in the box.
The footage also shows the players using a massive gumball machine, with each player receiving either a red or a blue gumball.
The importance of these gumballs is not quite known yet, though there could be deadly stakes for whoever picks the wrong color, which ever that may be.
Players are also seen given mysterious red or blue boxes – which may correspond to their gumballs, while an intriguing shot shows Gi-hun handcuffed to a bunkbed.
The trailer also offers a shot of the mysterious Front Man – Hwang In-ho (Byung-hun Lee) – a former winner who now oversees the deadly game.
There is also a brief shot of Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun), a police officer who has been searching for his missing brother for years… unaware he is The Front Man.
It seems that Jun-ho may have finally found the mysterious island where the Squid Game competition takes place.
The trailer only features brief snippets of rapid-fire shots of various characters, with an intriguing addition at the end – the sound of a baby crying.

There is no confirmation who the baby may belong to, but it most likely belongs to Kim Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri), who was pregnant in Season 2.
What will happen to the newborn child, born in the midst of this deadly game remains to be seen, but that sound of the crying baby has elicited quite the reaction online.
