‘Someone’s borrowing my car’ – F1 star puts on brilliant disguise to go undercover at Mexico GP and watch from stand

AN F1 star put on a brilliant disguise so they could go undercover and watch the Mexico GP from the stands.

The driver used a mascara, a Mexican wrestling mask, to cover up his identity as he made his way up to a seat.

The driver also wore a dark coat over his team t-shirt to stop people from being able to tell who he represented.

He made his way to the seat incognito and watched the first practice session and watched the F1 cars for the first time in years.

There is plenty at stake at in Mexico following Max Verstappen‘s win in Austin, Texas last weekend.

The Red Bull Racing driver closed the gap on both McLaren stars, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, in the race for the world title.

But the driver watching on from the stands was of course Mercedes‘ ace George Russell.

The Brit was not on the track due to being replaced by rookie driver Frederik Vesti.

The Danish racer has been a part of the Mercedes junior programme since January 2021, and it was his fourth outing for the team.

Russell, 27, took the opportunity to watch some of the racing from the stands but took no chances of being recognised by the fans.

In the video, he said: “Someone’s borrowing my car. I have not seen an F1 car on track for a long long time.

“So let’s go.”

Vesti replied to the video on Instagram with a hilarious comment.

He joked: “Next time don’t leave the keys on the table.”

Russell risked being discovered by the crowd as he said “That’s my car” while watching on.

He had a couple small chats with fans before making his getaway and removing his mask.

He added: “That was warm. I enjoyed that.”

Meanwhile, the driver recently put pen to paper on a new £30million-per-year deal with the Silver Arrows.
