BIG Brother fans have been left up in arms after ITV bosses splashed out for the housemate’s latest shopping budget.
The 2025 show cast were treated to full luxury during Friday’s episode, with a whopper £1,000 to spend.
It came after the bunch successfully completed Big Brother’s General Hospital Shopping Task.
And with a host of drama happening in the spy house, with the return of two former housemates and an explosive clash which saw tensions soar, some good grub was well needed.
Yet amid the cost of living crisis in the UK – which has seen parents admitting to begging strangers for cash for food – the task left a bad taste in the mouths of some.
One took to X to write: “£1000 shopping budget? Omg so much for cost of living crisis.”
A second put: “£1000 is INSANE even between that many people.”
A third then posted: “£1,000 for luxury food budget wth.”
Big Brother announced the happy news in the diary room.
The voiceover spoke to Zelah and told him the good news, which led him to exclaim: “£1000!”
He then ran out of the room to tell his co-stars spread across the compound and cheered: “We have 30 minutes and we have £1000 to spend – it’s iconic.”
Meanwhile, in the UK, parents are requesting food from strangers, living off 52p meals and even shoplifting for Christmas gifts in the most extreme instances as the rising cost of food and bills cripples family finances.
SHOW SPAT
Meanwhile, back in the spy house, the hefty shopping budget managed to spark a fresh spat.
It came as Jenny, Caroline and Zelah were in the Living Room talking about the shopping list.
Jenny said to Zelah; “Zelah, Caroline’s doing the shopping budget today.”
Zelah responded: ‘What, the whole thing?”
