A prominent Hollywood actor and comedian will sue one of the country’s most infamous public universities over a violent breakdown of order surrounding his appearance on campus last month.
Rob Schneider, a former “Saturday Night Live” star and an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump, announced Monday that he intends to file a lawsuit against the University of California at Berkeley.
The announcement followed an interview he sat down for with Jan Jekielek, an editor with The Epoch Times.
In the interview, Schneider recounted plans he had made earlier this year to return to Berkeley alongside Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
Those plans, of course, changed after Kirk was assassinated in September.
Schneider told Jekielek that he ultimately went forward with the Berkeley appearance alone.
I would like to thank ALL the courageous Cal Berkeley students who REFUSED to be intimidated by the ‘not very tolerant’ Left. We KNOW who the REAL FASCISTS are… the thugs who DON’T WANT FREE SPEECH. https://t.co/yrMWNlAbp0

“I went alone after his murder, and I went with his mentor, Frank Turek, and there was a group of people at Berkeley who rioted outside and set off tear gas and devices that sounded like gunfire, threw things, spit at people. And the police and the University of Cal Berkeley, to their great shame, did not prevent those people from interfering,” he said.
In the interview, Schneider said the goal was to engage in the sharing of conservative ideas in the lion’s den that is Berkeley.
The event devolved into chaos and violence outside the venue.
A group of protesters rioted, set off tear gas, mimicked the sound of gunfire, threw objects, and blocked doors.
Schneider accused both campus police and the university administration of failing to stop the disruption.
On Monday, Schneider shared Jekielek’s interview clip on his X page and said that he would be filing a lawsuit against UC Berkeley for violating civil rights.

The Berkeley stop was the final event on the tour Kirk began before his death, which left a void in public discourse that can never be filled.
But people are trying to carry the torch.
It’s good to see Schneider not only went on campus, but also vowed a month later to hold Berkley accountable for allowing his visit to spiral into a shutdown of free speech.
Leftists have run the entertainment industry for decades, but more and more people in Hollywood are coming out as sensible.
Schneider went to perhaps the most liberal place on the planet to engage with people in a debate, and they used violence or the threat of violence to keep people afraid of the discussion.
According to Schneider, the school’s complete inaction amounted to a failure to protect basic civil rights.
Rather than outright policing his speech, Berkeley allowed an army of actual fascists to do it, and administrators should need to explain why in court.
