Many would assume that being a Hollywood actor is one of the most glamorous professions around.
Yet many celebrities have spoken out about a downside to their jobs – having to work in close proximity to a stinky co-star.
Among those accused of leaving a foul smell on set are the likes of Hollywood heartthrobs Brad Pitt and Matthew McConaughey – who have surprisingly been called out by their disgruntled co-stars.
Just last week, British singer Charlotte Church admitted she ‘generally stinks’ because she won’t wear deodorant.
As she took a stroll with Walking The Dog podcast host Emily Dean, Charlotte was left surprised when Emily complimented her on how ‘lovely’ she smelt.
‘Do I? That’s surprising. I never smell nice,’ she replied. Charlotte continued: ‘I don’t wear any deodorant or anything, so I generally stink. I don’t shave anymore. I don’t shave anything.’

Charlotte continued: ‘I stopped shaving probably about 18 months ago, maybe even longer than that, maybe two years. And I stopped wearing deodorant.’
Explaining her reasoning, she went on: ‘I just started thinking do you know what?
‘Like this underarm area, there’s so many receptors there, lymph and all sorts of stuff going on there, I’m just not sure about sticking all of this chemically stuff in these pores, ‘cos your skin is so….you know, it’s the largest organ in the body.
‘Everything we put on our skin goes into our bloodstream.’

While he may be blessed with good looks and charm, it’s been claimed there’s a downside to Brad – his hygiene habits.
In 2009, Brad’s Inglourious Basterds co-star Eli Roth told Entertainment Weekly that he sometimes replaces a shower for a baby wipe.
‘He shared that when you’re sweating and don’t have time to take a shower, you just take a baby wipe and rub it under your armpits.
‘After a scene, Brad had to get next to me for a close-up shot, and he said, “Damn, you’re ripe”.
‘I said, “I didn’t have time to shower”. He said, “Baby wipes, man, baby wipes”.
Eli also alleged Brad told him: ‘I got six kids. All you’ve got to do is just take them, a couple quick wipes under the pits.
‘Man, I’m getting [peed] on all day. I don’t have time to take a shower’.

Kate, who also confessed that she doesn’t wear deodorant, said she could ‘smell him from a mile’ due to his stench.
The actress explained on Watch What Happens Live: ‘No. No, he doesn’t wear deodorant. And by the way, I don’t either.
‘My thing was I could smell him from a mile… because we were so close. We’re au naturals.’
The Interstellar star previously talked about his deodorant stance in a 2008 interview with Playboy, and said Kate would hint that he needed to do something about his body odour.
‘She always brings a salt rock, which is some natural deodorant, and says, “Would you please put this on?”‘ he said. ‘I just never wore it. No cologne, no deodorant.’
Matthew added, ‘The women in my life, including my mother, have all said, “Hey, your natural smell smells, one, like a man and, two, smells like you.”‘

Despite being anti-deodorant, Matthew insisted he took his personal hygiene seriously, claiming to take multiple showers a day and brush his teeth up to five times a day.
He just ‘doesn’t like to smell like someone or something else’.
The Oscar winner first shared his dislike of deodorant in his 2005 Sexiest Man Alive profile, telling People that he hadn’t used it ‘in 20 years’.
In 2021 Matthew’s hygiene habits came up again as his Tropic Thunder co-star Yvette Nicole Brown discussed his unique scent.
She recalled: ‘I remember that Matthew McConaughey said that he did not use deodorant and that he didn’t have an odour. So my first thought was, “I’m going to get as close as I can to him to see if he’s right.”‘
‘He does not have an odour. He smells like granola and good living. He has a sweet, sweet scent. That is just him, and it’s not musty or crazy.’
