Ferguson, 84, gave notable blasts to the likes of stars David Beckham and Ruud van Nistelrooy during his career.

But the Scotsman would also lose his patience with squad players at Old Trafford.

One player that he lost his rag with was Brazilian full-back Rafael for a mistake during a match.

At half-time the defender came into the dressing room expecting to be at the end of a rant from Ferguson.

However, the veteran manager mistook his twin brother Fabio for him as he proceeded to scathe him in an X-rated rant.

Ferguson was eventually corrected by his other players – but that did not seem to matter according to the brothers.

Fabio, 35, revealed the astonishing moment during an appearance on the Shoot For Love podcast.

He said: “My brother did something wrong in the game and he came at half time to speak with him but came to me.

“He started to shout f*** off!

“Rio [Ferdinand] or [Michael] Carrick said this is not Rafael and he said f*** off they’re the same!”

The Da Silva twins were signed by Ferguson from Brazilian outfit Fluminense in 2008.

Rafael enjoyed more success at Old Trafford as he went on to make 170 appearances for the club.

He helped the club win three Premier League titles during his seven-year spell.

Fabio, meanwhile, only played 56 times before leaving for Cardiff City in 2014.

The twins are so close that they bewildered United staff by sharing hotel rooms – even when they were initially given one each.
