THE showbiz world has been left in a state of mourning with celebrities paying tribute to broadcasting legend, John Stapleton.
It was revealed this morning that the BBC and ITV presenter had died aged 79.

Stapleton, who had Parkinson’s disease complicated by pneumonia, died peacefully in hospital early this morning, according to his agent.
The ex-Good Morning Britain presenter revealed his shock diagnosis in October last year.
Now, fellow TV stars have stepped forward to pay tribute to the star with various different posts.
Gaby Roslin took to Instagram to share a snap of John in which she wrote: “John Stapleton was such a good, kind, caring man.

“A truly great broadcaster with a huge heart. So sad.
“My love and thoughts with his wonderful family.
“John had a proper twinkle in his eye.”
His Good Morning Britain co-star Charlotte Hawkins took to X to mark his passing, writing: “So sad to hear John Stapleton – our ‘Stapes’ has died.
“He was such a brilliant broadcaster and I loved working with him on GMB.
“A genuinely lovely man, it was good to see him when he came in just a few months ago to talk about his Parkinson’s diagnosis. He’ll be much missed.”
Whilst Long Lost Family star Nicky Campbell wrote online: “I feel so sad. I worked with John Stapleton on Central Weekend Live for many years.
“He was a good friend, a kind, wise and very funny man and he was a broadcasting giant. Effortless, relaxed and incisive.
“A steel hand in a velvet glove. My condolences to all who loved him. There are many.
“Rest in peace my friend.”
John’s agent Jackie Gill confirmed his family were at his side when he sadly passed away earlier today.
She said: “John had Parkinson’s disease which was complicated by pneumonia.
“His son Nick and daughter-in-law Lisa have been constantly at his side and John died peacefully in hospital this morning.”
He formed half of an iconic presenting duo alongside his wife, Lynn Faulds Wood, with the pair becoming household names in the 80s.
