SNOW is a little like Marmite: you either love it or hate it, but whatever your take on the white stuff, there’s never been a better time to wrap up warm.

As the temperatures continue to drop, Marks and Spencer has you covered with a cosy jumper that has been hailed “perfect” for the current conditions.

The lightweight jumper is made for a regular fit, with a cosy roll neck to keep you snug as a bug when you’re out and about during the cold snap.

M&S also said that the jumper has extra stretch for an even more comfortable wear.

And the best part is this stylish and sophisticated number is just £26.

‘Bought all 5 colours’ – Shoppers run to Sainsbury’s to bag soft & cosy jumper

THE KNIT TEST

I tested 6 high street cashmere jumpers to see if they rival high-end brands

It’s gone down a storm with shoppers too.

In the review section, one wrote: “I had already bought the maroon jumper and it is so soft and warm that I purchased the blue and cream ones.

“They are very comfortable and just perfect for the current cold weather.”

Another added: “Bought one of these roll neck jumpers and it was so comfortable I bought another 2 in different colours. True to size and very comfortable.”

A third agreed: “Lovely, soft, warm and cosy jumper it’s very comfortable and a lovely colour. Washes well.”

This comes after one of Primark’s £17 jumpers went viral just before Christmas.

It is made from 10% lambswool and has a perfectly slouched silhouette that will look good at any outfit.

The jumper comes in cream, navy blue, or sage – and it sent shoppers into a frenzy.

Scots shopper Kayla went viral with 129,000 views on TikTok after spotting the cream version in store.

She gushed: “PSA. Vanilla girls, the viral Primark jumper now comes in cream. I am OBSESSED with this new colour.

Sainsbury’s has also hopped on the knitwear bandwagon and launched a new collection of soft knitted jumpers.

LAYER UP

The new knitwear comes in five colours – pink, pale green, grey, cream and blue.

Available in sizes 6 to 24, the jumpers have been hailed as itch-free and super soft.

And they’re only £16 each – making them cheaper than Primark’s viral jumpers, available in a selection of colours and priced at £17.

Describing the soft knit on the website, Sainsbury’s bosses say: “A soft understated staple, knitted with ribbed trims for a neat finish.

“Easy to style and effortlessly cosy – a modern everyday layer.”

The jumpers have already racked up rave reviews, with customers hailing them as five stars.

Is supermarket fashion the new high street?

DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale weighs in:

The supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, as you head in to do your weekly food shop you can also pick up a selection of purse-friendly, stylish pieces for all the family.

Tesco has just announced a 0.7 per cent increase in the quarter thanks to a ‘strong growth in clothing’ and M&S has earnt the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street.

Asda’s clothing line George has made £1.5 million for the supermarket in 2023, 80 per cent of Sainsbury’s clothes sold at full price rather than discounted and Nutmeg at Morrisons sales are also up 2 per cent in the past year.

So what is it about supermarket fashion that is becoming so successful?

Apart from the clothing actually being affordable, it’s good quality too – with many being part of schemes such as the Better Cotton Initiative.

A lot of the time they keep to classic pieces that they know will last the customer year after year.

Plus because they buy so much stock they can turn around pieces quickly and buy for cheaper because of the volumes.
