SAVVY Christmas shoppers are rushing to Asda after spotting a “secret” chocolate deal that beats the budget supermarkets on value.
While millions of us are hunting for the cheapest festive tubs, the real bargain isn’t in the plastic tubs at all – it’s in the refill bags.

Asda has slashed the price of its massive 685g Quality Street refill bags from £5 to just £4, making it officially the smartest way to stock up on your festive favourites this December.
For weeks, the supermarket price war has been raging over the iconic plastic tubs.
Tesco has been leading the headlines with its £3.95 Clubcard offer for a 550g tub, and discounter Aldi has matched that rock-bottom price point to lure in customers.
On the surface, paying £3.95 seems unbeatable compared to Asda’s £4 bag.
But the cheaper tub is actually a false economy.
While you might save a tiny 5p at the till by buying the tub, you are losing out on a whopping 135g of chocolate.
When you break it down gram-for-gram, the difference is startling.
The 550g £3.95 tubs from Tesco and Aldi work out at roughly 71.8p per 100g.
Meanwhile, Asda’s £4 refill bag comes in at a low 58.4p per 100g.
It is mathematically the cheapest way to get your sugar fix this Christmas.
The mix inside is exactly the same as the tubs.
You still get the Green Triangles, Toffee Fingers and Strawberry Delights.
However, you’ll need to act fast to grab this bargain.
Deals like this don’t last long in December.

How to compare prices to get the best deal
JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn’t mean it’s always a good deal.
There are plenty of comparison websites out there that’ll check prices for you – so don’t be left paying more than you have to.
Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers.
Here are some that we recommend:
- Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results.
- Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock.
- Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one.
- CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of.
